Since misty got cut out!

[ZZ]

the PersoN you HaTe
What have you thought of the anime now that may took mistys place?
It made me very mad when broke left, but he came back, misty didnt come back, so i stop waching the anime, T_T i miss her...
Anywho so what do you think?

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
Most of us think the anime became the best it ever was, (or on par with Season 1) since that happened.

AG is fantastic, and introducing May and the Contest arc was the exact thing the show needed to get the show out of the ground as it was in the Johto region.

There's a reason why the show has been so well received when AG began, they wrote out a character who no longer had a point on the cast, and introduced a heroine.

Broke leaving the show was one of the most depressing anime moments of all time. D:

Brock didn't really concern me though, I figured he'd come back because he wasn't the primary focus of GCYL.

I'd recommend watching the show again. It may seem a little flat at times, but it's not as if the entire show was destroyed because Misty left.

JohtoBlaziken

I dunno lol
Misty baby. :p

Who friggen cares?! Misty was as stale as hell. Togepi just dragged here down, and there was nothing for her to do besides putting everyone else down. I can tell ya that I'm not a May fanboy, but I will say that AG's been great since Misty left. There wouldn't be anything for her to do anyway, and the contest arcs added more appeal to the show, with two different routes (gyms and contests).

Don't refuse to watch a show because one character isn't there. That's worse off than trying to watch taped first season episodes just to induce nostalgia. X_x

Don't be a baby. But, alas. This thread'll get closed soon due to there being a never-ending torrent of Misty left threads. x_x

With May with a purpose in the show, not to mention a higher role than Misty, I'm perfectly fine with Misty gone. It's not like she hasn't left the show altogether, she's just not in the main cast anymore. May leaving and Misty coming back wouldn't help make the show better- in fact, it'd be worse. Misty's hasn't been a permanent cast member for over 150 episodes, and for her to just come back suddenly would be bad, since she's lost her purpose, and personality. I miss Kanto Misty, but Jotho Misty had gotten so boring that when she left, I didn't even care.

As stale and "Broke" fans have said Brock's personality has been, he still has a purpose.

...I can't think of anything 'funny' to post in threads like this anymore, so I'll quiet down for a second and be 'serious'. Time to bust some bricks with my head.~

I think the animé has been considerably better since Misty left. Her departure hasn't really subtracted anything from the show, and the improved elements and additional characters implimented after her leaving have actually helped to make the show a lot more watchable. We've got an alternate story arc, more intense battling, more character development (sort of...), better pokémon, the works.
There are a few downsides here and there, such as Ash steadily becoming less and less amusing with each passing episode, and the deteriortation of the once side-splitting Brock. But in the long run, it's still a good show. Granted, we don't have as much bickering as before, but Harley fills in for that whenever he can, and does a great job~

In the grand scheme of things, Misty never really had much influence on the show since mid-Johto, and I'm glad they decided to save her from suffering as much as Brock has. She was a great character and doesn't deserve to be dragged along behind everyone else in a cloud of dust.
Though in all honesty, I think it's pretty stupid to stop watching the show on account of a single character leaving. Do you not care about THE ACTUAL POKEMON MENTIONED IN THE CARTOON'S TITLE or something? You know, THE INTERESTING AND DIVERSE SET OF CREATURES THAT THE PROGRAM IS ALL ABOUT?

Insert some other spiel here about various other crap I've forgotten to mention, and here's your generic post. Paper or Plastic? How about Granite? Just like in the good ol' days~

I know I'll be ripped into for going against the groupthink here, but was there anything stopping the writers from giving Misty something to do? No, they just decided we needed to clone Kanto Ash and give him a rack and a different name. I love how when people are asked what makes AG so great one of the first words is "May"........and how people blew blood vessels in fear that Pearl might replace her. That one was pretty entertaining.

EDIT: Gravy makes a good point (wish I saw his post before I made this one) But I must ask, if Misty stayed, how much of that would have still happened anyway? The only loss may have been the Contests, which I honestly find rather dull without Harley, while the intense Gym Leader/Frontier Brain battles wouldn't be affected at all.

Speaking of Harley, it's sad that he's the really only true great character left......sad enough that I'm almost hoping Pearl's series wipes them all and starts clean.

Considering May makes up such a large part of the show, it's obvious when people talk about AG that May would be the first thing that comes to mind.

AG was great for a lot of other things too, (Ash's development and his greatest team yet, excellent personalities for the gangs Pokemon, good story arcs and filler for the most part, the introduction of Drew and Harley, and essentially a return to what made Pokemon so fun to watch in the first place)

Gym leader Misty is better than travelling Misty. She's probably more stronger and is better off. Don't worry about Misty being out of the show completely, she'll probably be back to see Ash and co. for another couple of episodes like in Hoenn and Kanto.

Harley I agree with, Drew is like a short Gary with green hair and a slightly smaller ego.

I must admit I was more indifferent to May until the Kanto Grand Festival and her sore-loser antics.....whining that she lost while she actually did BETTER than in her first Grand Festival (where she didn't shed a tear....) I'm pleased that Saori wiped the floor with her........it would be the same with anyone...

A return to what made Pokémon fun to watch? Please. A boring retread of a long-dead personality resurrected into a new character does not a good series make. Contests are boring, too, because you know May is going to win almost every single one unless Drew or Harley is in it (added to her ridiculous hax wins like Skitty vs. Dusclops and Squirtle vs. Ariados) But, OMG, May has boobs so it makes it better.

Someone pass the Apple Jacks.

Let me just make a point here.

If none of you had access to the internet, would you all be saying this?

It seems that, for some reason, every person here who argues against a Misty fan about her departure always say the same thing 'Misty was getting stale, and May helped make the anime fresh again,'. Well, sorry for judging, but if I hadn't seen the views on here and was watching the transition from Johto to Hoenn in the anime, I couldn't honestly give a rat's tail about why Misty was excluded, and if many of you were in the same position you'd say the same thing.

All points are valid as to why the female cast switch occured but that doesn't cement it in stone as the only possibility. For all you know the writers could have kept Misty and found alternatives in boosting the show. She didn't HAVE to leave. As the Great Butler said in his post, they could've given her something to do instead.

Well, the question asked by the thread starter was 'what do you think of the show since Misty left and May walked onto the scene'. So I just answered that question and didn't really take the her into account. I didn't say the show improved because she left. I said it improved since she left. Two very different things ;)

They could have given Brock or Max something important to do, but they generally don't. The reason Ash and May have quests is because they're the leading characters as we all know. Too many characters with tournaments and such would make the anime too crowded.

And in any case, its bad enough that we have Brock/Max in the background in most episodes. Add Misty to that, and we'd have three characters doing nothing in most episodes.

Hence why they decided to write Misty out, we don't need three characters standing in the background like cardboard cutouts. We don't need characters dragged along from season to season for no reason, just like Gravy said.

But they didn't.

Still, even if they did have Misty do contests (and maybe make the reputation of Water Pokemon even better by letting hers do well in her contests), it wouldn't help that her personality was gone. Now, if Misty's personality from Kanto came back, or she had a different personality that was worth watching and would be missed, then I would be upset that Misty left.

^I think you're missing a key point however. So what if Misty was made dull in Johto---in Hoenn the writers could have simply given her a purpose, and poof, there you have an important character once again.

What about a traveling Gym Leader, not unlike how Brandon moves his facility from place to place? Someone else could hold fort at the Gym, while Misty is challenged on the road for a special 'bonus' badge.

And there's a reason the Misty episodes are the best ones in Chronicles......

Maybe so, but if they can drain her personality, surely they can replace it? The situation has been done many times where a character's desires are sparked by an interest in an event, like May and her contests, so it wouldn't have been hard to give Misty a goal to work towards and up her personality.

Although I suppose the replacement was an easier idea. I'm merely complaining due to the fanbase being shaken up, but I suppose that's unavoidable no matter what happens.

Even without a forum, people who watched the show from Kanto to Johto could tell that Misty's personality changed, and not for the better.

The topic creator would beg to differ. And his join date is July, so that kinda sums it up.

I HATE it, see, I love Misty, but only like May, but my problem stems from these.
1 Still WAY too much filler (though this seems to have finally been rectified in the BF arc (apparently the show blows unless they are in Kanto :D)
2 ****in Max needs to die a HORRIBLE death, SOON.
3 People who think his Hoenn team could POSSIBLY beat his Kanto team and/or that Sceptile could beat Charizard.
4 This is one of the biggest ones. CHILDREN could have wrote the Kyogre Groudon arc better than the writters, it was near impossible to screw up, yet they managed to do it (ruin it that is) to the greatest of their ability.
5 Personally, I hate contests, so that is personal preferences.

Edit, one more thing.
6 People who fawn over a 10 year old because of her bust size (by the way, she is no biger than Misty (most of the time, one of the teams make her bigger than Dolly Parton), she just has far different proportions.

Psydaquil

I think she would be cooler now without that Togepi.
