Are sure these games will have the updated dex from Platinum? I will be v disappointed if it ends up that there is like only one fire type, etc like the original Diamond and Pearl.
I’m thinking that it’ll be Platinum’s Dex or something similar to it. GF has typically added all of the new evolutions and pre-evolutions for every remake since HGSS into the Dex for Pokémon found in that region with the exception of HGSS excluding the specific location evolutions. LGPE is a bit different as it was more of a remake with a completely different story and events than RBY/FRLG. Each remake other than FRLG has elements from their respective third version incorporated into their remakes. Are sure these games will have the updated dex from Platinum? The Shaymin woman in Floaroma Town was spotted, but it's possible that they put her in just so that Shaymin's Sky Forme is obtainable.I’m thinking that it’ll be Platinum’s Dex or something similar to it. The Porygon family's in it, so it's possible. Are sure these games will have the updated dex from Platinum? I will be v disappointed if it ends up that there is like only one fire type, etc like the original Diamond and Pearl.

Same here. it's pretty much the same thing everyone has said so far; the original was far too lacking in Fire pokemon. My bet would be a situation similar to Alpha & Omega remakes. Its the Platinum dex up until a certain point, then some kind of story reason opens it up even further with some newer pokemon from unova through Galar in certain areas.I think the chances of using the Platinum Dex are likely, given Porygon-Z is in the trailer. It would also allow for better distribution of types, especially considering we don't want to be effectively forced to use Chimchar as our starter just to have a Fire-type on the team.
Newer Pokémon I think would fit in Sinnoh are the Alola form of Raichu, Galar forms of Mr Mime plus Mr Rime, Mimikyu, Litwick line (Litwick being common inside the Old Chateau), Sylveon of course, Vanillite line, Chinchou line (given Lumineon’s Dex entry about Lanturn being its rival), Ditto, and the first three Regis.Same here. it's pretty much the same thing everyone has said so far; the original was far too lacking in Fire pokemon. Not just Fire, but Ice and Electric-types as well. I remember watching a video by MandJTV highlighting the problems with Sinnoh, and how he pointed out Weavile and Abomasnow being the only fully-evolved Ice-types in D/P, and Electric only having Luxray, Raichu and Pachirisu. I think the reason Fire is mentioned so much is due to the prevalence of the Bronzor line, where most of the ones used by NPCs have Levitate, meaning you had to use a Fire-type.
I'm thinking it'd be its own unique Dex instead of DP or Platinum's, basically what a proper Sinnoh Dex should've been in the first place
- All of DP's 151
(Platinum additions)
- Lickitung line, Eevee line, Magnemite line, Tangela line, Rhyhorn line
- Gligar line, Yanma line, Elekid/Magby lines, Swinub line
- Nosepass line, Ralts line, Duskull line, Snorunt line
- Rotom, Giratina
(Potential new additions)
- Sylveon + Mr Rime
- Heatran, Regigigas, Cresselia, Phione, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus
That'd be 57 additions to the 151, resulting in 208, which is 2 off of the Platinum Dex
As for the other 5 lines from Platinum, I think they'll be put into PokeRadar/start appearing after the Dialga/Palkia crisis or put into post-game. A PokeRadar Dex (focusing on PokeRadar-exclusives) + Battle Zone Dex could also work too

Ironically enough, for me, Pearl helped me to love and appreciate Rapidash, where beforehand I couldn't be bothered to give such a late-appearing and late-evolving Pokemon the time of day.Your only options for Fire types are Infernape, which is a starter, and Rapidash, which isn't exactly a fan favorite
I'm pretty sure it wasn't solely due to Flint that the Fire-type shortage wasn't brought up a lot. There's a lot of notable bosses in the game that use Pokemon weak to Fire, such as the Bronzor line that Galactic Admins use, and due to Levitate they were only weak to Fire. Flint is definitely still the most prominent reason, as you said. No, the reason Fire is highlighted is because Fire is the most extreme case. Your only options for Fire types are Infernape, which is a starter, and Rapidash, which isn't exactly a fan favorite. Also because they decided to make an Elite 4 member Fire type when Fire had those issues and crammed non-Fire types Lopunny, Drifblim, and Steelix.
Actually, Dragon is pretty bad too, even with Platinum's expansion because the only ones you have access to are Garchomp and Altaria. But Dragon flew under the radar because:
1. There was no Dragon type specialist in the game to make it obvious that there was a shortage (this is a large part of what causes those complaints, they include a gym leader or Elite 4 member of a type that doesn't have a lot of options, and they have to pad out the roster with duplicates or Pokemon not of their type to give them a full team)
2. There were very few Dragon types at the time to the point where it wasn't really reasonable to have multiple Dragons and most of them were pseudos or legendaries.
3. Dragon was OP at the time so they really didn't need to flood the game with 5 or 6 Dragons.
Thanks to Dexit, I think that they might have to add the Jigglypuff, Torchic, Shroomish, and Skitty lines to the dex, as these four Pokemon are the only Pokemon allowed in Amity Square that aren't in the Sinnoh Dex, unless they either completely cut out Amity Square to redesign it as something else. In the original games it's only purpose was to test out the following Pokemon feature to make sure it worked properly in HGSS.
Yeah, but they eventually made those Pokemon available within Sword and Shield through the Expansion Pass. Players can now get either Bulbasaur or Squirtle, as well as one of the Alola starters in the Isle of Armor, and the legendaries that were in the data at launch can be found in the Crown Tundra.I often forgot about Amity Square. I do wonder how they'll implement it in this version, and if we will have some Pokemon added to the game's data that will be transfer-only, kinda like how the Kanto and Alola starters and some legendaries were originally in Sw/Sh before HOME released.
But because of Legends Arceus I don't expect BDSP to have DLC.Yeah, but they eventually made those Pokemon available within Sword and Shield through the Expansion Pass. Yeah, I figured as such.As Riley pointed out, there likely won't be DLC for BD/SP.
