Skateboarding

Yes, it's true. Skateboarding was originally supposed to be in Pokemon Gold and Silver. I had an old Tips 'N' Tricks magazine from when the 2nd gen pokemon were revealed with japanese names. There was a map of the Johto region, pictures of new pokeballs and even early ingame screenshots, one of which included the main character on a skateboard in one of the new modes of transportation. I gave the magazine to my friend who is a huge pokemon fan. When I bought gold I was disappointed to find that there was no skateboard.

What are your thoughts on this and have you seen the picture or the tips n tricks magazine with the pictures?

Please do not flame me, this is 100% true. The images were from when the 2nd gen pokemon were first revealed.

I would love to see pictures of that, I believe you, since they do go through changes with games, like in Kingdom Hearts II, they showed scenes with other types of Heartless, but it turned out to be cut out.

I read about this in a magazine years ago back in middle school, so i believe it was real. Why'd they take it out? I'd like to see pictures as well.

ImmortalKaine,i think it might be in the Japanese g/s versions. Most things in the Japanese games that aren't included in the English version of Pokemon, like Ho-Oh and Lugia can't be caught w/o u going to a Nintendo Event.
Even thought they should have included a skateboard n surf board in the English version of Pokemon.

Back in the day, the official Pokemon site said that Gold and Silver would have a skateboard... even after the games came out. >.<

Would you mind posting scans of that magazine? I'm curious to see those pictures.

Why would they change a skateboard to a bike for outside of Japan?

Anyone can scan the picture for us? That'd be cool.

Well, skateboards are much cooler than bikes.

I don't recall ever hearing of a skateboard, even on sites with items only obtainable through sharking...

Yeah, there was supposed to be a skateboard in the games during beta runs. If you read the G/S/C manga, Gold (hero from G/S/C) used a skateboard to go to different places (he later ended up modifying it into a scooter in the manga).

It doesn't have a screen but it says New Features:
• See over a 100 new Pokemon.

• Each Pokemon has its own gender leading to more variation.

• Use a new skateboard for transportation.

• All new Pokedex.
