Do you think it would be neat to see a pokemon evolve slowly? example:to see a Spearows beak and wings get biger and over time turn into a Fearow edit: please move this if it is in the section I think it is

well, I suppose if Pokemon was a different sort of game, like say it took place in real time right from the begining, it would work.

But I think the current way pokemon evolve is supposed to be simlair to how some insects seem to metamorphisise instantly before your eyes. The larval form suddenly spliting open to reveal the final adult form.

wait, whoops, I didn't understand the question when I voted... darn

Contrary to what I voted, I like evolution the way it is; you reach a certain level and your pokemon undergos a sudden transformation. It's so satisfying and (sometimes) exciting. Imagine how hard changes over time would be... and how would that work with feebas, magikarp, or even pokemon like charmeleon who grow new appendages.

No, the only thing I wanna see change is the evolution animation It seems really lame right now, just two images flashing on top of eachother. I know a smoother one would be hard to do, but even with all the sparkles and lights they added it's still really lame now. I hope they at least smooth it out a bit. I dunno how, though...

No, that would be intensly boreing, not even in the anime did you see details on the pokemon change, they just turned into white light and then when the light faded they evovled.

i vote no, just imagine how demented some pokemon will look. for example clampearl, a shell with a long tail and sharp teeth, i don't think so!

No.

In the games, there is always a message that says, "What? (Insert Pokémon Name here) is evolving!" Followed by the cool music. If Pokémon evolved slowly, then there would really be no need for the message, since it should be pretty obvious to the Pokémon Trainer that his/her Pokémon is evolving, and that would just be a waste of time, and could take a toll on the Internal Battery.

As for the animé, another no. For nearly 10 years, they've kept the same evolution formula, which is Pokémon --> White Flashing Light --> New Pokémon. Thinking that they would change all that... well, it's just not going to happen, if you asked me. :p

No, because then what would you do if you wanted to keep it unevolved? And, what about Stone, Trading, and Happiness evolutions?

Interesting concept.

Although there are a few flaws. Since the current advanced evolution style only requires two sprites and an animation, there is no real need for any excessive sprites. But with the slow evolution, there would have to be at least five different sprites for each evolving Pokemon, thus making hell for the graphic designers.

Size would also be an issue. If the Pokemon was to vastly increase in size, scaling the evolution would put the evolution process under the knife.

At least this is wast I think.

No, it would end up looking terrible and the game designers would have a heck of a time trying to make sprites.

Plus the fact that it would look weird if you saw a Wailmer (4'7") slowly evolve into a Wailord (47'0"). Now that would be a GROWTH SPURT. :p

Exactly my point, although this almost happens now. The two sprites flash faster and faster, until only one sprite remains. And the sprites aren't to scale that much.

Lol, contradicting myself.

Do you mean the evolution animation, or I dunno...

Charmander grew to lvl 14, it started to develop claws, lvl 15, bigger fire, lvl 16, evolves?

If it's the first, I like the idea. The latter is a bit stupid, seeing as how some people don't want to evolve their Pokemon.
