Meanwhile Grookey is just curious the whole way though which makes sense since he wasn't there during the first go-round. But he seemed to enjoy it unlike Pikachu and Raboot

I really wish I knew what that music playing during Ash and Goh's rap battle was. It's the same music that played during Inteleon's evolution sequence if I'm not mistaken?

This might be the weirdest episode ever not to feature Team Rocket.
On a related note, this episode tied for the fewest human characters in a Pokemon episode in the main series, the other being "Pikachu's exciting adventure!" from Sun and Moon which had Ash and Kukui, Kukui being in a flashback.

Nah, the first one worked because it took advantage of the half episode format and had great comedic timing.
This episode in comparison was great but the first half was absolute buns. So boring I just wanted to get to the real juicy content that we watch Journeys for; Satoking.
The second half was the bonkers madness that I loved the first episode for. The rap battle was great too although I wish it would’ve been a little more than constant Yo’s cuz Rica Matsumoto can actually spit some bars. Maybe Japanese kids aren’t ready for that revelation yet.

I watched Pokemon anime for 20 freaking years
Fun fact: The Hey's and Yo's are made so the rapper can adjust his voice and his tempo. I doubt that the Pokémon writters knew that.

A trillion times better than the last one and nowhere near as cringe-inducing as other Japanese comedy seems to be for a western audience
I mean, nothing happened and there was maybe 4 minutes worth of animation, but at least that meant the episode was over quickly
Plus, it had grookey getting set on fire twice, and that's only ever a good thing for all the trouble it's started over the years

Pleasantly surprised, this wasn't nearly as bad as the last Slowking incident. At least this one kinda had a conflict. It had it's cute moments and watching the Yadoboys spit bars was fun.
Quick question, why was the animation for a filler episode everyone was dreading one of the better animated episodes of this series? How much do you want to bet the animation here will be better than Ash vs Marnie, the one that actually needs it?
