Well Christmas has come and so I got some extra cash...Soooo I would like some facts whether I should get Emerald, is it different enough to get or is it not worth it, no fanboy/girl answers please, I would just like to know the facts.

SealElement

Volcano Trainer OSHI
Emerald has additional pokemon, Rayquaza catchable before the E4, choose your own Lati,
Magma base, both teams, animations, all 3 super legendaries catchable, and alot more.
But it has no Zangoose (real letdown for me), you have to trade for the other lati, some
of the animations are very bad, and it upgrades already hard Tate + Liza. >>

Missingno. Master

Poison-type Trainer
Well, if you want thw whole lowdown on Emerald compared to R/S, here's all you need, quoted from my FAQ.

Missingno. Master said:
I had posted this in the Missingno. forums (Link in my sig, I encourage all to join!), and though I might as well post it here.

This thread is to serve the purpose of letting people know what major (and a few minor) differences between Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald there are).

1; your character and rival are wearing brand new green clothes.
2; a little girl blocks the town exit rather than a boy.
3; Instead of talking to your rival, you grab a Pokeball in his/her room, and they come bursting in. It's actually their Pokeball.

Those are just minor differences, but I did promise to cover them.

Route 101;
1; Prof Birch is being chased by a Zigzagoon (LOL a tiny Zigzagoon?!)
2; Zigzagoon and Poockyena seem to have changed appearance ratios (will later on be shortened to P>Z (Poochyena>Zigzagoon)) (Poochyena is more common than Zigzagoon)
3; For the first time, you'll notice the Pokemon animations.

Oldale Town;
1; The 2nd floor in the Pokemon Center looks more like that in FR/LG
2; Later on, you'll notice the questionairre in the Pokemarts, like in FR/LG

Route 103;
1; P>Z

Route 102
1; P>Z
2; Seedot is as common as Surskit was in R/S
3; Surskit is absent outside of an outbreak
4; Both Seedot and Lotad are available, though Lotat is more common than Seedot.
5; The Youngster has a Poochyena rather than a Zigzagoon.

Petalburg City
1; Wally's dad gives you the HM Surf right after the Gym Battle (Comes right into the gym and takes you to his house).
2; You first meet Scott, the owner of the Battle Frontier, who you meet several times on your journey. At this point, he deems you not very powerful.
3; Norman's gotten rid of a Slaking and has instead a Linoone (Possibly the Zigzagoon he loaned to Wally?) and a Spinda

Route 104
1; Marill can be found in the grass
2; An extra trainer is on the sand (Just a fisherman with a MAgikarp or 2)
3; If you walk right in front of pairs of trainers, they can challenge you now (You used to have to talk to THEM).
4; P>Z

Petalburg Woods

1; Teams Magma and Aqua are both evil in this game, but you fight a Team Aqua grunt in the woods
2; P>Z

Rustboro City
1; Ingame trade; trade Ralts for Seedot
2; Rustboro Gym is redesigned, and has an extra trainer
3; Roxanne has an extra Geodude, and her Nosepass holds an Oran Berry
4; If 2 separate trainers see you simultaneously, they both take you on in a double battle
5; You battle your rival here
6; The Pokenav's trainer eye is replaced by the Match Call function

Route 116
1; P>Z
2; Abra is available on this route

Dewford Town
1; The gym has twice the trainers, as well as a new design
2; Brawly has added a Meditite to his team (Use offensive moves against it to disrupt its Focus Punch), and his Makuhita holds a Sitrus Berry.

Granite Cave
1; Both Sableye and Mawile are in the game, but only Sableye can be found here

Slateport City
1; The Slateport Market now has a lady who gives you a Powder Jar, and sells you medicine for Berry Powder
2; The Contest hall is replaced by a Battle Tent, (THere's still the guy who gives you TM41) where you must get through 3 battles, using lv. 30 Rental Pokemon. After each battle, you can trade a Pokemon for one of your latest victim's Pokemon.
3; The Azumarill trainer in the Pokemon Fan Club will teach one of your Pokemon Swagger.
4; After punting Team Aqua out of the museum, Scott registers himself in your Pokenav.

Route 110
1; P>Z
2; Like in Ruby, Minun is more common than Plusle.
3; The Trick House's mazes are redesigned, and you ca choose between the Red or Blue Tents
4; Prof Birch registers himself in your Pokenav's Match Call

Mauville City
1; A fat guy will teach one of your Pokemon Rollout
2; Mauville Gym has a slightly new look and more trainers
3; Wattson's gotten rid of Magnemite, and obtained an Electrike and Manectric, which holds a Sitrus Berry.

Route 117
1; No trainer is where he/she once was on this route
2; P>Z
3; Roselia cannot be found
4; Like in Ruby, Illumise is more common than Volbeat
(5-7 are breeding changes, since this route hosts the daycare)
5; Breed a Pichu with a parent holding Light Ball, and the Pichu will know Volt Tackle
6; Having a Poke w/ Flame Body or Magma Armor with you will half the time for egg hatching
7; If the mother or Ditto is holding an Everstone, the offspring has a better chance of inheriting that parent's nature
8; Seedot can be found here, though VERY RARELY

Verdanturf Town
1; The Contest Hall is replaced with a Battle Tent (You can still obtain TM45) where you must get by 3 battles, but your Pokemon will think for themselves- you cannot command them to use what move when.
2; A girl in the Pokemon Center will teach one of your Pokemon Fury Cutter

Route 111
1; THe Trainer Hill will be open after you beat the Elite 4, and will hose extremely difficult double battles (for lousy prizes)
2; Instead of just taking a fossil from the desert sands, you must ascend the Mirage Tower when it appears (You need a Mach Bike and Rock Smash), and pick a fossil there. THe tower then crumbles, and you can get the other fossil after the Elite 4.

Route 113
1; Sandshrew has been replaced by Slugma

Fiery Path
1; Like in Ruby, Koffing is more common than Grimer

Fallarbor Town
1; THe contest Hall is replaced by the third and final Battle Tent, where if neither Pokemon faints in 3 turns, a judge decides the winner based on HP, how much you kept on the offensive, and how effective your moves were.
2; A girl in the pokemart will teach one of your Pokemon Metronome.

Route 114
1; After beating the Elite 4, the Fossil MAniac reveals a long tunnel containing Whismur, Loudred, Ditto, and the fossil you didn't pick
2; Like in Sapphire, Seviper can be found on this route, and Zangoose cannot.
3; Nuzleaf can be found here, though VERY RARELY. Lotad and Lombre appear as normal.

Meteor Falls
1; Like in Ruby, Solrock can be found, unlike Lunatone.
2; You meet Team Magma, who is also evil.
3;Meteor Falls has a great new look
4; After you beat the Elite 4, a new room opens up where you battle Steven, with his Pokemon all 20 levels higher each.

Mt. Chimney
1; The Lava Cookie Saleswoman stands in a different spot on the mountain.
2; YOu battle Team Magma.

Jagged Pass
1; A Team Magma member guards a lump of rock, which later is revealed as the MAgma hideout

Magma Hideout
1; This is in a different spot than in Ruby
2; Groudon rests here, rather than in the Seafloor Cave (Makes sense, since Groudon is in no way affiliated with water, unlike Kyogre, who is perfectly suited for the SEAfloor cave)
3; YOu need the Magma Emblem to gain entry

Lavaridge Town
1; In a random house, a kid there will teach one of your Pokemon Mimic
2; The gym has a new look (took me hours to figure out the maze), and more trainers
3; Flannery gets rid of a Slugma, and gets a Numel and Camerupt, and her Torkoal holds a White Herb (and for good reason! *coughoverheatcough*.

Route 119
1; Rainfall is less frequent here
2; In the Weather Institute, after the Elite 4 is booted out, the owner will inform you of odd weather on a certain Route. THat rout will tempporarily host a cave containing Kyogre or Groudon. If there's rain, it's Kyogre and you gotta dive for the cave. If it's a drought, it's Groudon, and there's a normal cave entrance. Both are lv. 70.
3; There is a narrow, grass-choked passageway that gets you around a few trainers.
4; Seedot can be found here, though VERY RARELY.

Fortree City
1; The gym looks almost reversed
2; Ingame trade; Trade a Volbeat for a Plusle

1; Like in Sapphire, you can find wild Shuppet here
2; P>Z

Route 123
1; P>Z

Safari Zone
1; After you beat the Elite 4, 2 new zones open up, both packed with Johto Pokes.

Lilycove City
1; The Contest hall here is now the only one in Hoenn
2; A girl on the Dept. Store Rooftop will teach one of your Pokemon Substitute

Mt. Pyre
1; After booting out Team Aqua, the old lady gives you not an orb, but the Magma Emblem
2; like in Sapphire, Shuppet dominate most of the building, and Duskull are uncommon on higher floors
3; Meditite cannot be found here.

Team Aqua Hideout
1; The hideout's entrance never seals *Those who forgot the Master Ball sigh in relief*

Seafloor Cave
1; This is your ONLY battle with Archie

Mossdeep City
1; The gym is completely different than the old design, and has much more trainers
2; The gym leaders add a Xatu and Claydol to their lineup, and Solrock and Lunatone both wield Sitrus Berries.
3; THe old lady's house where you can battle an E-reader trainer is replaced with a game corner identical to that on FR/LG's Two Island.
4; You can actually see the rocket in the space center
5; Team Magma invades the space center, and you must tag battle with Steven and his Metang, Skarmory, and Aggron against Maxie and a Magma Admin.
6; This is a minor graphical glitch, but there' s a half a rock above Mossdeep. Just half a rock, obviously a glitch.

Sootopolis City
1; The Cave of Origin contains no legends, can't be acessed after the Kyo/Grou crisis, and you must meet Wallace here.
2; Juan is the new gym leader, and Wallace's mentor
3; Kyogre and Groudon duke it out in the waters here.
4; A Juan-obessed fangirl in the Pokemon Center will teach one of your Pokemon Double Edge.
5; The weather shifts continually from sunny, to rainy, to sunny, to rainy, ect.
6; Instead of finding the Waterfall HM in Cave of Origin, Wallace gives it to you after the crisis.
7; Juan's team is Luvdisc, Whiscash, Sealeo, Crawdaunt, and Kingdra, which is holding a Chesto Berry
8; The brothers who gave you an Ether if they saw a big Barboach/Shroomish now want to see a big Lotad/Seedot.

Sky Pillar
1; On your first visit, you are merely awakening Rayquaza to stop Kyogre and Groudon (And there is an AWESOME cutscene!), and the floor is not cracked- yet.
2; On your second visit, you can catch Rayquaza, and the floor is cracked yet again.
3; This can be acessed before the Elite 4! Rayquaza'd PWN the Pokemon LEague (HINT, HINT!)

Pacifidlog Town
1; A guitarist in the Pokemon Center will teach one of your Pokemon Explosion.
2; Ingame Trade; Trade a Bagon for a Horsea (Great! Those Horseas are so f*cking rare!)

Sealed Chamber
1; Instead of putting Relicanth first and Wailord last, do it the other way around.

Desert Ruins
1; Use Rock Smash instead of Strengh.

Island Cave
1; walk 1 lap around the cave instead of waiting 2 minutes (good for me; I have zero patience!)

Ancient Tomb
1; Use Flash instead of Fly

Victory Road
1; Wally appears much earlier in the cave

Ever Grande City
1; Sidney replaced Sharpedo with Crawdaunt, and his Absol holds a Sitrus Berry
2; Phoebe's Dusclops (the lv. 51 Dusclops) holds a Sitrus Berry
3; Glacia's Walrein hold a Sitrus Berry
4; Drake has only 1 Flygon, and has a Kingdra, and Salamence holds a Sitrus Berry.
5; Wallace is the champ, and he has Tentacruel, Wailord, Gyarados, Whiscash, Ludicolo, and Milotic, which holds a Sitrus Berry.

After the Elite 4;
1; You are FORCED to watch the news report on the flying pokemon, there is a "bzzt" over the color of the Pokemon, and your mother asks if it was red or blue. Pick red and you get Latias, blue, Latios.
2; the biggest change of all, the Battle Tower has been replaced by tha Battle Frontier, a theme park devoted to Pokemon Battling!
3; The Aurora and Mystic tickets function in this game, letting you go to Birth Island and Navel Rock, respectively.
4; You can revisit Southern Island.
5; If you get an Old Sea Map, you can go to Faraway Island to catch a lv. 30 MEW!
6; In addition to Surskit and Skitty, Seedot can also be found in Outbreaks.
7; In addition to the usual TV commerials, there can also be a commercial for the Blend Master, the best Pokeblock Blender in the world. He never misses! I suggest to save your rare berries for this guy!
8; In the battle frontier, there is a woman who will trade a Meowth holding Retro Mail for a Skitty.
Hope I helped!
