Snorlax Moveset

Expert Evan

Old Fogey
As intended for L50 battle tower, I currently have a L5 adamant male snorlax with thick fat ability and am considering to raise. Here are its current stats:

Impressive in abilities, flawless attack/defense, 32/32 HP, 16/17 sp.def, 8/9 speed.

Intended EV distribution: 252 Attack, 129 defense/sp.def
- Return / Body Slam
- Earthquake
- Shadow Ball
- Curse / Counter

In the above movesets, the ones on the left are the egg-learned moves and was wondering if I should teach it body slam over return, and counter over curse, and whether its sp.def and/or speed need better IVs in order to be any good.

Here's what I'd suggest:

Body Slam/Double-Edge
Shadow Ball
Earthquake
Curse/Rest

Item: Leftovers

Body Slam has that 30% chance of paralyzing, and it might give snorlax and edge in battle, while double edge deals 180 damage with STAB, and snorlax has that massive amount of HP to take the hits. I'd suggest some EV's into HP. For Curse, put less EV's in ATK if you want to, you don't really need extra attack if you're going to use curse to boost snorlax's attack. I'd use rest if your snorlax needs staying power. I wouldn't suggest counter because snorlax could faint if the attack has bad timing.

Hope I helped!

if anyone even thinks of suggesting belly drum lax

please think rationally before posting

curse/rest/body slam/earthquake or shadow ball
curse/eq/shadow ball/body slam or return

252 atk evs are not needed btw, use 252 hp / 252 sdef / 6 def (simplistic spread but meh it's not NB) attack can always be raised, but your hp and sdef aren't going to be

i think those are the most effective:
252 hp/sp.def 6 attack
thick fat
return
shadow ball
rest
curse
leftovers

or

252attack/def 6hp
thick fat
return
shadow ball
rest
belly drum
quick claw

Don't suggest quick claw =/ It sucks and it relies on luck. Besides it'd suck majorly on snorlax. He needs leftovers. And don't suggest belly drum...

Pokemon used move!
Snorlax used belly drum!
Pokemon used move!
Snorlax fainted!

This is probably the best I found with refining in the BT in the BF:

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Trait : Thick Fat
EVs : HP 100
Atk 108
Def 100
SpD 200
Careful (+SpD,-SpA)
- Return / Body Slam
- Curse
- Shadowball
- Rest

Building up SpDef up is important to being a SpAtk sponge. (I had a Def Snorlax and learned the hard way) HP is nice too.

Curse helps build up Def but you dont want to forget it all together with EVs or then you have the reverse problem where a fast Atker can hurt you before you think about rest or while you rest.

Shadowball is a must (or maybe EQ) because Ghosts pwn you if you don't (Learned this the hard way when I used Sleeptalk instead)

My Snorlax is my last line of defense for my BF BT team!
