You don't know. That's the point.
You can just make up the characters ages because in the reality of the show, they don't age at all.

To me his age doesn't matter I'm more concerned about his size. He's incapable of growing up... just like every other character in the anime. It should be pretty depressing for him to have the size of a 10 year-old girl like Dawn.
Well, back to topic. Hmmm, I'd say he's 13 or 14, don't know why, it seems right.

He worked for 9 years as a writer so he must know ;)

This is kinda like a question I just thought of... That someone should post for me - on account of it wont let me post anything!!

Are wild pokemon stupid?? Like, im forever fighting Golbats getting my Speed EV's up, and I can always switch into Empoleon, and know that at some point - they're going to use Poison Fang, even though it has no effect on steel types!! I mean, in the anime - they at least work the attacks, they're just not that effective...

Hmm. I didn't see that part. But if the story was consistent with their ages, I'd say anywhere from 13-16 is accurate, considering:

1. The part in Kanto where they mentioned it has been a year since they last came to Viridian City, or at least I think that's what it was.

2. The lost DP episode where it has been a year that they've been traveling in Sinnoh.

3. The fact that there has been 550-some episodes. That has to equate to at least 1 year. Plus, there could be several days in between episodes. It's not like Ash has to have an adventure every day.

Personally, I think Ash is 16.

...I think that everyone should stop trying to make the main characters anything but ten-years-old. Face it, Ash, as well as Misty, May, and Dawn, are TEN. They stated so in their debuts. We stop now with the false age claims.
