So my XBox 360 broke...

No this is not a thread to whine about how crappy the 360 is. I just merely wanted to tell everyone how wonderful their support staff are.

My 360 stopped working about 3 weeks ago for some reason. So I called up Microsoft to find out the problem and see if they could repair it. They helped with some over-the-phone-troubleshooting and still nothing happened :(

So the support guy took down my details and about a week later a sticker arrived in the mail to put on the box. So I sent it away (they paid for postage :)) and two weeks later (today), I got my 360 back :D

I would just like to thak Microsoft for their speedy response and the helpfulness of the support staff. They deserve a cookie :)

Anyone else had to get a console repaired? Did it take a long time? Were the staff helpful?

This might sound like spam, but I'm just happy that they did not take a long time and were very knowledgeable.

Well, not to brag, but when one of my buttons on my GBASP stopped working, I sent my system into Nintendo. They couldn't fix it, so I got a new GBASP from them. Yeah, that's right. Since they couldn't repair my system, they sent me a new one, free of charge.

But it, your X360, might have had a defect. They've been having a lot of bugs going around with some of them (one of the kids at college ran into a similar issue like you did).

You ever think about the price to manufacture a product? A GBASP costs what, $100? And it's been out for 3 years and a half. What do you think the manufacturing price is, compared to a console that's been out for a year? It would be easier to give a new GBASP than a new Xbox, though Microsoft does send some new consoles.

It's not suprising considering 360 should've been developed for another year to reach perfection.

BOOM! HEADSHOT!
I had to send in my ps2 to get fixed once and the lady at the end of the phone was real nice. It took about 2 weeks to get it back, but I had to pay about $40.

It's not surprising considering Nintendo fanboys should stay in their own goddamn section and burn in hell for all eternity.
Be quiet. That is not an opinion, it is a FACT that Microsoft should have worked on the 360 more before shippping it out to the public. Instead, we see tons of systems malfunctioning, even today.

Also note how Catalyst was simply commenting that had MS taken more time to work on the issues looming over the launch releases, the 360 would've launched without a hitch.

Good job making yourself look like a tool. Burn in hell for being a Nintendo fanboy? A bit much?

erm I do have to admit though that Nintendo fans are the most annoying of the bunch. I'm glad everything worked out dude :)

Thank god Sony is doing a 1 year warrenty with PS3's as we've seen some crappy PS2 problems...although I never had to replace mine.

Problem here is that no one even brought up a single hint that Nintendo might be "better." For whatever reason Alchemist snapped is a mystery considering no one's really bashing any company. o_o;

Actually, I think Sony primarily learned their lesson when they first declined to replace any PSPs with malfunctioning square buttons, firing discs and dead pixels. Granted, the first two problems were fixed by the time the US release was around, they were still quite adamant about the dead pixels.

It's for the better to include a year waranty.

And I agree with Franky. Every kind of fanboy is rather annoying.

Maiq, good to hear your 360 woes were fixed. :)

I had a bit of a problem myself. I had bought a PS2 slim at the begining of October and after a few days, the laser stopped functioning. It would not move towards the disc and it would not read a single disc. Although the case said not to return to the store, I did the opposite. 8D Store gave me the choice of a refund or replacing the console. I replaced it and it works perfectly fine. I think the reason Sony may ask you to check with them is to be sure if they can fix the problem over the phone first, and then if not, charge you for fixes when sending it in. >>

Considering your 360 shouldnt even got broken, you should be be actually angry at how they made it.

BTW I am not a fanboy.

Why? Everything breaks eventually. I was just unlucky. Microsoft repaired it with minimum delay, so no skin off my back.

Sure your not. *shiftyeyes*

The very fact that they were nice about it, provided quick service and fixed his console for free is reason enough to be glad. There's been plenty of times where other companies would end up charging people for repairs that aren't even their own fault.

Next-gen consoles should have a high year level and the PS3 will probably suffer from this problem too.

Look around the section in every single Wii vs. whateversystem or anything that does not relate to a console related to Nintendo. And in the Nintendo section too.
