So Tales of Graces has been released in Japan, and the question is if it'll get released in America (I'm saying America because, well, I'm sure everybody in the rest of the world knows how these things usually go)

First off, sales. On the first day, Tales of Graces sold less then Tales of Symphonia 2. A mothership title sold less then an Escort title. Now, admittingly, there are good reasons (competing with FF13, Wii has a pretty bad RPG reputation, ToS2 may have turned away future customers, and the low market), but that's not a very good sign. Not sure about the current sales though; I know a site that has information but I can't read it since it's in Japanese. (It's here if you can understand it)

Second off, the game. According to many people who have played it, the game feels incomplete, is kind of buggy and is accordingly rather short.

Also, there isn't any motion control (and if there is, it's rather minimal). It seems that this game might get ported to a different system.

Of course, until Spring of 2010 passes we won't know for sure, but things don't look good right now.

Well, that sucks. Especially considering I was kind of looking forward to this one; considering my feelings towards ToS2.

All things considered, if it does get ported to another console, I hope it ends up on Xbox 360 (and not just because I own one either). This is because I find it's the console with all the RPGs

well hopefully if they bring it to america and other countries, a lot of the known bugs/issues will be addressed during the translation process. Personally, I've always enjoyed the Tales games over the Final Fantasy games, so it would be nice to see it brought over to our side of the world if they could improve it.

I wouldn't worry too much because:

1. I believe TOS2 sold more copies than Vesperia so they will probably not bring over a port without bringing over the Wii version as well

2. As long as it sells well it doesn't matter that TOS2 sold more copies and that shouldn't affect it's chances of being localised to greatly. Plus it may be a little soon to compare sales on the first day.

3. If it really sucks then do we even care if it comes out here?

Super, super =D
It's like when Professor Layton was released in Japan, everybody thought the chances of it coming to America/Europe were very slim. But, about a year later, bam, Curious Village hit the shelves. So, all I'm saying is that there is a good chance of it being released in English.

It doesn't link to either. Think of the Tales series as like the Final Fantasy series in this case.

Oh hell no. Vesperia sold more copies then ToS2 (especially if you count the PS3 port). The distinction between mothership and escorts are rather obvious in this case.

I know, that's why I posted that link to a site that tell current news in my first post. I just need someone who can read it.

Also, sales don't really seem to mean anything to Bamco in the first place when it comes to localizing anyway, so I'm not even sure why I put that up there.

3. If it really sucks then do we even care if it comes out here?

In a sense, it's basically a much shorter Tales of the Abyss. However, the battle system has been getting quite a bit of praise.

Professor Layton was not made by Bamco. There is a difference.

Sorry I meant in the U.S. forgot to add that.

Anyway I hope the game does make it here with the bugs fixed (they usually fix those when localizing). I Just checked it's Famitsu review score and it got a 36/40 so I doubt it is really much worse than the other games.
