Both Wake and Byron got kinda screwed over with only 2 episodes when all other gym leaders got 3 (Fantina) or >4 (the rest). Wake is the one in most need of redemption, since he barely had any role in his intro episode (the festival..). Afterwards he got stuck with Takeda and was swiped 3-0 in the gym battle.

I personally feel that Wake and Byron had the most potential out of all the gym leaders, so both of them only seemingly getting 2 episodes saddens me greatly.

Well then, do you think any of them will return? And would you like it if they would return? Maybe to help out in some upcoming TG episodes or something?

Its a shame, because they both are amazing characters. Their my favourite gym personalities, the others are a bit annoying or dull, so its a shame these two got shafted.

If theres a battle frontier in the battle island like in Platinum, Wake might return there like he does in the game, which would be cool. As for Byron, he might still appear on Iron Island as some people have suggested. If not, I dont know where else he will appear. Unless they do the trainer cafe thing where all the gym leaders return.

Yeah, ok!
Yeah, I can't think of any good reason why the writers would show them again, there's nothing plotwise to give them a reason to show up.

Roark got an unbelieveable 7 eps of screentime, never before has a Gym leader outside of Misty/Brock/Giovanni gotten 7 full episodes.

I doubt it. Byron had it pretty good though. His intro episode revolved around him and his son and his battle with Ash was well done, he wasn't stuck with a crappy AD and he knocked out two of Ash's pokemon

Wake was neglected though, Ash defeated him imbarassingly easy. Floatzel should have taken down someone atleast

You can sort of say that Fantina only had 2 episodes too, she didn't really do anything in the Jun episode. She was only on screen for a few seconds.

Off topic, if Ash defeated Wake so easily then I wonder how Paul's battle with him went. He has Electabuzz and Torterra, couldn't have been too hard for him. Atleast in his battle against Maylene, Honchkrow ended up fainting after defeating Meditite and Machoke, he probably beat Wake without losing a single pokemon and he probably didn't even need to swap out his pokemon, Torterra could have swept all 3 of his pokemon

Your Big Buff Bro
Wake we could see again if the gang goes to stark mountain, like how we saw him for awhile in the games at Stark Mountain.

I havent seen Byron much, since Im not that into spoilers, but I think he's fine with just 2 episodes.

Thought he got six? 4 in Oreburgh, then 2 in Canalave. Regardless, 6 episodes is still a record (save for the main characters mentioned), surpassing Clair's previous record of 5.

I don't see Byron returning for Iron Island, but that's the only place I can realistically see him showing up again. I know that Wake appears in the post-E4 area in DP, but it's such a minor role that I can't see it transitioning to the anime.

I actually wish they would have had an episode in between the Croagunk Festival episode and Ash vs Wake.

They could have built up the Buizel X Pikachu X Floatzel thing that they had going in the gym battle rather than have it go like "Omg you hit me with thunderbolt, grrr!"

My fanfic of DP 82 1/2

Ash challanges Wake to a gym battle. Wake starts out with Floatzel, Buizel pops out of its ball by itself to battle and Ash allows it to. Buizel is messed up pretty bad by Floatzel so Ash lets it sit in the audience with Dawn, Piplup and Brock. Ash sends out Pikachu next, Pikachu is doing pretty good and actually winning against Floatzel. Both Floatzel and Pikachu are about to to faint when Jessie and James attack and interupt the gym battle. They steal Floatzel and Pikachu and fly off. Wake helps the group defeat J+J and tells Ash that they can restart the battle in the morning. Buizel is angry about losing so easily and Pikachu doing so well against his own evolution so he starts acting arrogant and challanges Pikachu like he did in DP83 when Pikachu hit him with thunder. Ash trains Buizel all night to get ready for the gym battle. If that happended the gym battle would have been longer too, they wouldn't have had to add all of that Buizel vs Pikachu stuff to the beginning, it would have been an actual good reason for Buizel to want to battle Floatzel and Wake+Floatzel would have gotten their fair share of screentime.

I don't think there is hope for Byron to come back but Wake can in Stark Mountain like most people said.

Well, Byron could definitely appear on Iron Island, I half expect it.

Also, Wake, like mentioned, can appear on Stark Island.

How would Byron appear in Iron Island? DP110 has Riley and Lucario, DP111 ha possibly Mars and Purugly and possibly Jun and that is it. I can't see Byron appearing in either one of the episodes.

Byron MIGHT appear in DP111 to help fight Galactic, similar to how Maylene appeared in that eppy after her gym battle, but its a small chance.

Byron and Riley interactions would be nice. They missed the perfect chance to explain that Riley was originally going to be the gym leader rather than Roark. Instead they gave us "I like fossils better!" "No I do!!"

well the perfect amount of episodes fer a gym leader is 3
and everyone knows that but since ash defeated byron and wake on his first go they get two
simple as that

There's a minor possibility of Bryon showing up in Iron Island, but I'm not so sure about Wake though.

You know why? They're rather middle-aged men without rather noticeable looks, so the teenage fangirls and fanboys won't like them. Plus, do old men have commercial appeal among children? Think about it.

Well, you might be right. He could be at his house and than he hears some commotion in Iron Island and it is Team Galactic, hopefully.

I think Magic Thunderbolt is right. Bryon and Wake got less screen time because of their looks. I would also prefer younger gym leaders like Volkner and Malene instead of those 2, but I'm not against them appearing again.
