• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Arsenal losing 4-0 in what was, lets be honest, their best chance of silverware this season begins to question Arsene's job security even more. Kudos to AC Milan for their win.

I remember posting rather frequently in the previous incarnation of the football thread here on sppf, so it was surprising to see I hadn't posted in this one yet. Gonna rectify that right now!

Anyone, if any of the old members are still around, they certainly remember that I'm a hardcore Milan fan. And I am extremely delighted at our win tonight. We were clearly just better than Arsenal and deserved this win.
Yeah, congratulations on the win but you'll witness the greatest of great comebacks when we win 5-0 in the return leg...I wish

Let's be honest, no it wasn't

The point was the Champions League was never our best chance of silverware since the start of the season. It was always going to be in this order, Carling Cup, FA Cup, Premier League and then Champions League.

The only one that we can realistically win is the FA Cup and even that depends on some lucky draws.

Yeah, the FA Cup is Arsenal's biggest chance of winning something. Sure there are some good teams left in the cup, but in Champions League you have Real, Barcelona and Bayern Munich for example, not exactly easy.

Arsenal really have to do something during the summer, but honestly I feel with Wenger. He obviously has tied hands from the board, and I don't think Arsenal has the amount of cash to buy players for, that Wenger wants us to think. In the past he had no problems with buying players, so I don't think it changed just all of a sudden. They wanted Benzema and Mata during the summer, were close on Mata, but when they couldn't get up the cash, he went to Chelsea instead.

It's also very noticeable how much they miss Wilshere. I like Ramsey myself, but if you look at Ramsey, Arteta and Rosicky, neither of them are looking into really moving forward with the ball, it's often passing sideways.

Actually considering our history that is not THAT unlikely... I still remember the Deportivo la Coruna comeback from a 4-1 a couple of years ago.

Hmm, ajax did pretty well against ManU considering the team they had to use.
Would've been nice if the shot from de Jong went in.

I gave Ajax more credit than they deserve, apparently. Thought Valencia would tear Stoke to shreds, but alas it didn't happen.

As for Porto, Hulk is an absolute powerhouse. I half expected him to tear his shirt off and start destroying helicopters

Hey guys, Man Utd fan here. Happy? :D
Anyway I'm glad that we beat Ajax, not an easy game going to Amsterdam even though Ajax had a weakened team out. I thought the first half was pathetic from us, we barely tested their keeper at all. I was pleased with the second half though, and overall I think we deserved the win. Night would have been perfect in City would have lost/drew though :/

^unfortunately I do think Liverpool should do well against Brighton and Cardiff. IMO they sadly will win the cc but the fa cup should be a step too far. The FA Cup should be interesting though because with us and city out of it it will interesting to see who will win it. My vote sadly goes to Chelsea :(

Happy we beat Ajax. 2-0 away is a great result which should see us through to the next round easily. Would rather get Bilbao than Lokomotiv Moscow, so I hope Bilbao can pull off a win at home next week.

Didn't really understand the way ajax set out last night. Bulykin, their striker, is big and strong yet he hardly got the ball. Ajax never looked to try and cross the ball in towards him. Almost every chance they got, they shot from 30 yards out and De Gea was claiming them easily. Don't know if they play like that all the time but I do know they are not doing as well as expected in the Eredivisie so it is a possibility.

Another United fan :D
Anyway, I disagree - I would rather get LM than Bilbao. Even though it's further away surely we are almost certain to win that while Bilbao may prove a slightly bigger challenge.

Anyway, anyone watching Sunderland v Arsenal?

Unbelievable! 2-0 Sunderland. Feel kinda sorry for the Ox but I'll take it! :D Looks like no trophies for Arsenal again then...
