On the d/p pokedex on serebii, it shows the pokemon and their types, but if the pokemon has two types, most of the time, almost all of the attacks learned are never the second type. For Example:enperuto. Also, Biidaru is normal/water, but the only water move it learns is water gun. Doesn't it seem stupid how these pkmn have these types, but don't learn both 2 different types of moves they should be? This is also stupid because their movepool (moves they learn) are being limited to that first one type.

Thank you, SPPf! :)
I know! It's like TMs don't even exist!

One of the most awesome responses ever! :D

Anyway, does it matter? Emperuto learns Lustre Cannon through TM and Bidaruu learns Surf via HM, so it doesn't matter.

Your right. It really doesn't matter since we have so many TM's now. BUt i know its stupid. For example in Ruby adn Sapphire, Mawile never had a steel move that can hurt you, he just had iron defense. Now he has steel moves

I guess healer o pain can't stand Shuckle then, a Bug/Rock who doesn't learn moves of either type. :p

You have TMs so you don't have to worry. I remember this same story is with Mudkip/Mash/Swampert. Its a water/ground type pokemon and it learns only 3 water-type attacks- weak water gun, weak Whirlpool and Hydro Pump, but thanx to TM, it can learn more water-type attacks like Surf etc.

Its cause the first type is there main one, and if they are ever to evolve and change types, it would be the second one that changes

Gyarados!!!!1111!!!!!1!!!
...lol.
That is what TMs are for, anyway.

No its not stupid the first type is supposed to mean its the majority of that type. Thats what TMs are for anyway.

omg, i cant believe u missed out Muddy Water, its an awsome move!!!

Some pokemon, such as Medicham, have a decent balance of moves between their types. Others, such as Lucario, have no corresponding moves whatsoever. The only steel move Lucario can learn is the utterly useless metal sound.

gyarados is pointless as a flying type. It should be a water/dark or water/normal, because how in the world does a gyarados fly? If you kno0w, please, do tell me.

Its supposedly based on how a koi carp jumps over a waterfall with the dragons gate in it and becomes a dragon. Most dragons in China can fly eventhough they dont have wings

The logical explaination for this is the fact that Gyarados was extremely over powered to be a plain old water type so they slapped on the flying type to hinder it a bit. Another Pokemon like this (but not the same type) is ;212;

You can't really expect that a Pokemon is going to learn an attack of both of it's types, unless it's suited to them (I am referring to the original topic, here ;) ). I am a stickler for having a dual-type Pokemon learn both types of moves, though, through TM/breeding. Mawile always bothered me with that, I-can-only-learn-Iron-Defense thing. lol Iron Head ftw!
