Something weird here going on with EV Training...

I'm trying to EV train my Bold Natured Wobbuffet so I first I gave it 10 HP UPs, then had it defeat 152 Whismers with my Espeon and had my Wobbuffet hold EXP. Share, then I gave it 10 Irons, had it defeat 29 Clamperl with my Espeon and had my Wobbuffet hold EXP. Share, then I gave it 10 Zinc, had it defeat 29 Tentacool with my Espeon and had my Wobbuffet hold EXP. Share. Then I go to the EV woman and she says I need to go for it a little harder. I don't know why this is and she said the same thing when I did this with my Mewtwo...I'm really confused.

EXP. Share doesn't give the EVs to the Wobbufet. It only gives the Experience points. ><

the EV guide in game mechanics says you can use exp. share for EVs

EXP. Share doesn't give the EVs to the Wobbufet. It only gives the Experience points. ><

So logically, it's best to start EV training immediately after you get the pokemon. But of course, you can't get any Effort Points from those pokemon like Carvanha with your newly hatched Mudkip (well you can but it'd be hard). This is where the EXP. Share comes in. Any experience you get through the EXP. Share is divided in half, so you'd think it would be the same for Effort Values right? Actually, you get the same amount of Effort Values for the battle as the pokemon fighting it did. So if your Mudkip had EXP. Share attatched to it and your Blaziken defeated a Carvanha, both would get 1 EV point, if they could. Sadly, you cannot manipulate the Macho Brace or Pokerus to give Mudkip 4 EVs in place of 1 by using the EXP. Share. However, if you were to send out Mudkip first with Macho Brace and Pokerus and switch, it would gain the four Effort Points.

I raised my Wobbuffet the exact same way with the vitamins and Exp. Share and its been maxed out. Just give it a few more battles.

I found out the answer! (I think) when you get EVs you have to grow a level for them to kick in so if you had (lets say) lv 71 wabbuffet and 275 EVs and you got the other 235 EVs the lady would say it needs move effort untill it grows a level. so raise it a level and post

So you're saying that I already did max out my Wobbuffet's EVs even though the Effort Woman says I should go for it harder and all I have to do is have is gain a couple of levels and she'll give me the ribbon?

I'm pretty sure that is what will happen. You should only need to raise it one lv though. If this doesn't work sorry and I'll think of more ideas of what could have happened

not true. the lady gives you the ribbon as soon as the EVs are maxed out. you don't need to grow a level first.

OK I thought it only counted it once you got the lv because you don't get the higher stats untill you grow a lv so then all the EVs are acumulated from that lv and added onto it. but still try raising it a lv. it may work

Raising a level didn't work.

I honestly don't see how I could have miscounted. I am sure that I filled out the EV's because I was keep tracking pretty accurately and carefully. This is really weird....

You probably miscounted. And the main site's EV guide says that exp share DOES work. Just try giving it a few more EVs, and see what happens.

The only possible explanation is that you counted wrong...

also remember that there are 2 extra EVs that cannot do any good in any stat...

What I would do is save, then raise 2 evs... check the lady to see if you get your ribbon... if you do... everything is cool...

btw EXP. Share Does Work... I have used it before

I've been beating Tentacool for a while and that Effort Woman still thinks I should go harder....I don't know what to do. Just keep defeating Tentacool then until I get it?

if you're playing emerald, and have a good stockpile of berries, you can:

save. feed EV berries (21-26) to the wobbuffet until you can't anymore, and see how many you used. don't count the last berry you use if it says "wobbuffet turned friendly! base (stat) can't fall!" and see how many that is. if you did it right, it should be 26 HP berries and 13 each of Def and SDef. if it's anything else, there's your problem.

I have Emerald but I'm not done with the game yet.

I've been defeating Tentacool & Clampearl for a while now and that Effort woman at Slateport still won't give me a Ribbon....should I just start leveling it up and have it defeat any Pokemon?

I think the reason that my Mewtwo's EV's got maxed out so quick was because it was at level 70.
