Sonic Advance 3

I just got out my old copy yesterday! I'm on the boss level of Chaos Angel. I decided to unlock Cream and Knuckles, as I hadn't yet done so. I also have to get the Chaos Emerald for Route 99, as I have all of the Chaos and the key. So, discuss!

I have this. I could never figure out how to unlock anybody besides Sonic and Tails...
Personally I liked Sonic Advance 2 more.

To get Knuckles: Beat Zone 2- Act 3 with Sonic as the leader
To get Amy: Beat Zone 4- Act 3 with Sonic as the leader
To get Cream: Beat Zone 6- Act 3 with Sonic as the leader

I just got to Altar Emerald! :D

I've had this game for longer then I can remember and I still don't have the last chaos emerald.

I definately prefer this one to Sonic Advance 2, indeed, I think it maybe one of my favourite sonic games, although Nostalgia is probably a key factor to that. I really hope they do include sonic advance levels in sonic generations 3ds.

Hm, I do have this, but I haven't played much. I think I'm just having trouble getting all the Chao from each world.

Look up "sonic advance 3 chao locations," on google, and you will find some great videos that show you how to get all of them. :D

This was a fantastic game, and I 100%ed it. Then I gave it to a friend for a week, and when I got it back, he had deleted all my save data. :/

D: That's very sad considering to 100% it takes a long time, what with getting all the medals on each run and such. I'm stuck on Altar Emerald XD I'm using Sonic and Cream as my team.

Is sonic 2 that much better than sonic 3? If so, I should invest in it!

I say it isn't.

Sonic advance 2's levels are based a lot more around speed then anything else. It has a lot of unfair traps that you have to know are coming to have a chance of avoiding (prime example, on Sadv2's cyber level, there is a speed booster that sends you running up a wall, then gives you next to no time to jump on to a platform before you smash into spikes. It's bosses have some really unfair OHKO moves, and it's special stages are nigh impossible to enter, let alone beat. What's more is it requires you to defeat the game, chaos emeralds and all to unlock features that are already available or easy to unlock on the other two games (such as the tiny chao garden, which requires you to beat the game with two different characters, when Sonic Advance gives you it from the start).

It might be because I suck at video games, but the game seems mostly unfair and based on fake difficulty. I'd vote SAd2 the worst out of the trilogy, maybe out of the 2d games in general.

I'm interested to know why others say otherwise though.

I tend to like both Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 just the same.
The levels I love in Sonic 2 are Emerald Hill, Chemical Plant, Casino Night(glad its on the 3DS), and Hill Top.
The level I love from Sonic 3 are Angel Island, Hydro City, Ice Cap, and Launch base. So as you can see I have equal favorites in both games.

I for one have never played any of the handheld sonics( something I now regret) But I always followed all of sonic's outings on the gamecube. I was more interested with Pokemon Sapphire, Mario Kart, and Wario land 4 with the GBA and Wario Master of Disguise ,Pokemon Diamond and Platinum for the DS. I hate to admit it now but Pokemon is mostly the reason why I missed out on those other games. But that is going to change with the 3DS.

So Will-powered Spriter I too wish that the advance games make it even if its only the boss battles that make a return. through youtube videos I find Advance 2's Knuckles battle at Sky Canyon is an interesting boss battle and one that I hope for as a boss for the 3DS. I also find Cyber track and Altar Emerald boss battles as good candidates as well. But that just me. Lets keep our finger crossed for at least a few of these.

I'm pretty sure whenever anyone mentioned Sonic 2 / sonic 3 in this thread, they were refering to the advance series. I was.

Though for the record I prefer actual sonic 3 over sonic 2 as well, though there isn't as much distance between them.

As long as it loses the pimp slap of instant death attack (or are you refering the the sonic advance 1 boss where you fight metal knuckles).

More like bottomless pits EVERYWHERE. That was Sonic Advance 2's major downfall - its level designs were awful and ended up sacrificing proper platforming with speed runs and timed jumps. Contrary to what many may think, Sonic isn't a series that focuses solely on speed.

Yeah, in sonic 3 I liked the flow of the level design, and I love route 99. I know, I know, it's easy. But the level flows so nicely it's just really fun to play. I love the chao attacks too. I played around quite a bit to see what all the different chaos looked like when paired with other characters.

Just got the chaos emerald for route 99 and found all the chaos in cyber track!
Still haven't beaten the altar emerald yet though.

I was refering to the pimp slap one. I saw the metal knuckles boss on youtube but to me it doesn't quite represent the friendship/rivalry that a Sonic vs. Knuckles boss like the pimp slap or mystic ruins knuckles fights.

I might have to get out Sonic Advance 3 and reevaluate my stance on this.
But sonic advance 2 had some fun roller coaster rides :p
When you guys say pimp slap, are you referring to the World 5 boss?

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAX!!!
I had this game once, and I wasn't able to save cuz it wouldn't remember anything so I had to start again everytime I played it
