Sonic Rush

What are your opinions on this game? Is it worth getting? I need a few more DS games in my collection and I was thinking of getting this. Of course I am gonna get New Super Mario Bros. when it comes out for my birthday (which is May 21 and is close to the release date :D) but I wanted to know if this was worth putting on my wish list.

Let's see...yeah, it's really a fun game. ^^ Blaze is an awesome character. If you like the Sonic games, I think you'll enjoy it. Takes a bit of time to get used to, but it's worth it.

Best Sonic game in years - the first step back to greatness for the blue blur.

The game has a lot of quality music, mostly good level design and some pretty damn tough (and satisfyingly so!) bosses. There's just the right amount of 3D here to compliment the 2D, and the controls are very good. Other aspects of the game, such as that super powerful boost dealy, and the method with which you have to get into special stages, and their ease of access, are also rather nifty. :) Oh yes and they took away the god awful "collect x number of chao to access the special stage" thing - yay!

The special stages get pretty frustratingly hard later on though, and Blaze isn't as different from Sonic as I would like her. Oh and I want proper Badniks back! :(

Pretty fun game, but a bit on the hard side. It's worth buying but in many parts are pretty hard, like the boss battles and some stages. The music is good, though.

Have you seen me?
Sonic Rush is the best because it's a dual screen, you get bonus rounds, new levels, and get to be a new character!

Awesome. Good music, good level design, good bosses if not slightly frustrated, easy access to Special Stages, best Water zone in years, fun but exceedingly hard Special Stages, addictiveness... get it now!

There's too much repetitiveness (play Sonic's level with Blaze, it's not even changed), and some bosses are way too hard.
</cons which are more important than pros>

Fun game, definitely. Although being a Sonic veteran, I beat this game in under a week. It was WAY too easy for me.

The first bosses also seem to be somewhat more difficult than the later ones, as odd as that sounds, which may be why people are complaining of the learning curve here.

The music is neat (I even bought the official CD straight from Japan just for it) and it's got a "hip" feel to it that was missing in the GBA games (although Sonic Advance 3 was awesome).

By the way, the special stages = FUN.
Very familiar with them because I've played Sonic 2 for ages, although they have their own twist by using the touch screen and move faster.
They were actually easier for once, too. The last one takes some persistance, but you'll eventually beat it after six or seven tries.

I do not mean to sound really pesimistic on this game, but i was kind of disapointed. I mean, it is a good game and all, but it seems like the levels goe from really easy (where you can just hold right and finish the level) to really hard (whjere you cant run because of traps and enimies). I mean, it is a good game, and it is fun, it is just that i think with all of what everyone has been saying about it, i expectied it to be REALLY good and long.

I suppose that i am just comparting it to much to sonic 3 and knuckles. I thought that game was great, had a lot of levels, and they changed slightly for each character.

All in all, it is a good game, just do not expect it to be like the best game ever. I would recommend it though, and the speed boost thing is great. Also, i hate those stupid rockets that are in the later levels. I mean, how are you supposed to controll them?

If Sega creates more 3D Sonic games, SA2 gameplay was a step in the right direction.
If Sega creates more 2D Sonic games, Rush was like a leap in the right direction.

After the advance series, most fans were disappointed with the gameplay. Rush showed that if the game had more thought put into it, it could be pulled of really well. It strays very far for the original trilogy put mantains a strong Sonic game feel. It has plenty of short comings such as 1837563 bottomless pits per stage, and a kind of hold right to finish feel. But they're cancelled out by many strong aspects. Namely the music and three different ways to play the stage. You can-
A) Hold right and jump finsh.
B) Search for stuff around and play slowly.
C) Learn the stage by heart so that you can whizz through them tackling even the hardest areas with ease.
It also refreshing to see a previously minor character play such a part in thegame. I am of course talking about Cream who played a much larger part that Tails even. (He was just kinda there for the sake of Sonic.)

I recomend the game of course, it's really fun. Suprisingly it has a lot of replay value. There's nothing special to do but collect the emeralds if you haven't already done so, but it's amazingly fun to go about setting good times for all the stages.

(OMG fanboy review!) Nah seriously, I have a friend who only like this game and Sonic 2. There must be something good about it if that's the case.

Oh come on. The bottomless pits are easily avoidable... if we're not talking about Night Carnival.

But I digress. This game is excellent. There's one thing that keeps this game from getting the Sonic style right, and that is the music. No, I don't hate it, I actually like the music a lot, but it's just not that Sonic type music that we've all come to love. By that, I mean all of the music has the same feeling of happiness from hearing it, while if you go to a game like Sonic 3, there's the laid back Marble Garden tune, the tense feeling from that last boss fight, the calm atmosphere of Angel Island, and the seriousness of Icecap's caverns.

And you can't hold right the entire game. I don't know why people exaggerate it that much, but after playing this game for hundreds of hours, I am positive that I find myself pressing left a lot too. :/

Sonic Rush has you going everywhere at times. I love all the gadgets as well! The music is awesome, but too upbeat sometimes. Zone 7 is underrated though IMO, especially in terms of music.

And Night Carnival (reverse name of Sonic 3's Carnival Night) is a cheap ***** to finish. One of the hardest.

I haven't played this game... yet, but are you guys talking about Carnival Night zone from Sonic 3? If it's from this game, then lol at Sega for renaming the stages from past Sonics.

But yeah, this game looks brilliant, I want it, but I can't find it anywhere. T_T

Night Carnival has to be one ofthe worse bouncy stags out there. There's a balloon here and there, special springs and light up rails. Still,it's refreshing to see a slightly more refreshing look to a Carnival stage. Because of its initial difficulty, it's a right pain in the back-side for Blazes first stage. Jeh Jeh Rocket would have been a better choice.

Where I live, you can't enter a store that supplie DS games without finding Rush.

Night Carnival seems so.... barren, despite Sonic Rush having plenty of gadgets everywhere else, and bouncy stages generally also having a lot of gadgets. However, Water Palace is contender for the single best Water stage ever, along with Hydrocity and Tidal Tempest obviously.

Hydrocity is the sigle greatest Sonic stage of all time. It can still be challenging to this date.

Another good feature about Rush is that multi-pack and single pack multiplayer play the same. You can choose your character (little difference between them = not so great) and any act of any stage. The only difference between single and multi is the waiting times.

The only thing I don't like about it is that Act 2 is rather dry.

I'm not sure what's the best on Rush though. Probably either Water Palace or Dead Line. Dead Line's music and level design>all other space zones and music.

Water Palace and Huge Crisis's levels take the cake for my favorite levels. In my opinion, they're the most challenging to time attack. :D

No no no! Water Palace act 1 and Jeh Jeh Rocket act 1&2 are simple to TA. It's much harder with Water Palace act 2 because all of the 'stand still, jump, wait then jump onto the next to flying platform' make it feel classic.
