I think what I like the most about this film is the overwhelming negativity it has been receiving. The dislikes are even greater than the likes on youtube

Anyone think that Dr. Ivo Robotnik will "become" Eggman after over-exposure to Sonic's energy(Which I suspect will be tied to rings and a (theoretical) sequel's Chaos Emeralds), since his hair clearly changes color over the course of the trailer?

And if Tails isn't in this one, he's either a end cameo or sequel bait...

Jim Carrey looks NOTHING like Dr. Eggman outside of his business suit. He looks like your strange Marvel movie villain reject. Even though he doesn't look anything like Eggman, the fact it's Jim Carrey is the only thing salvaging this movie.

It hasn't been released yet. I'm going to assume it's about as expensive if not more-so than Sonic, but that's not taking into account the marketing, suggesting DP will need around $400-500 million to break even. Who knows if Paramount's willing to spend as much on marketing for Sonic.

Detective Pikachu will definitely not need to make $500 million to break even. That’s only a little below what a film like Avengers: Endgame needed to make to “break even” and that film had a production budget alone of well over $300 million.

I'm going to keep on asking this. What is it that makes comparable to the Mario Bros movie? Especially when we know so little about it?

That's not really anything new. Fans, by their very nature, often do everything they can do to do remain faithful, while Hollywood adaptations, or just adaptations in general, tend to play fast and lose with the source material. It would be no hard chore to find a large list of similar scenarios.
