Somehow, Secret Rings is looking more appealing.

I've been thinking that since Shadow and Silver were revealed to be in the game and it's been made to be "dark" and "realistic." Get a grip, Sonic isn't meant to be realistic.

SOTR has a new concept though, it stands out as something that looks interesting. And hearing the negative comments on Sonic 2006, I am beginning to feel happy that it's potentially gonna flop.

You want it to be bad?

I was hoping for at least something Adventure-like. That way I might have liked it. It sounds like we're getting another Shadow though, from what I've heard =/

lol who are you to say what Sonic is and isn't suppose to be? His creater Yuji Naka said it's "what if Sonic were real" that's the theme of the game. It looks fun, fresh, and looking like Sonic Team is taking a risk.

It's not gonna flop as it's a PS3 launch title, and I've seen more than enough hype for it.

Secret of the Rings looks like it sucks you wanna know something Sonic isn't suppose to be, it's on rails.

I never knew that. However I'd appreciate you NOT being such an *** about it thanks, and don't accuse me of arrogance either. :)

Opinions on the internet are serious business. Who are you to tell me what to think? :)

THERE'S NO $50 HERE!
I prefered Shadow the Hedgehog to any other Sonic game.

...

Good luck dealing with everyone else.

Gamma's storyboard (Sonic Adventure) made me upset. (Gamma dies, NO!!! ><)

A storyboard is a series of drawings behind the production room floor that simulate the experience of rehearsal as a pitch to an animated series, movie or game ideas. In other cases it's meant to draw out a scene on how it should be handled.

The word you're thinking of is storyline

Sonic Heroes was good, but, you have to kill Metal Sonic, and he's one of my faverote villains!

He's a villain. What do you expect to do? Let Metal Sonic redeem himself and join the good guys? That's the biggest copout you can ever do.

Even Mario iced Bowser in NSMB (only for Bowser Jr. to use some voodoo or witchcraft to bring him back.

Last I checked, he only reverted back to his original form and was powered down. His body is still intact.

Sonic said "Anytime you want a rematch", not "Game over pal!"

The former suggests that he knows he didn't destroy him.

I've been thinking that since Shadow and Silver were revealed to be in the game and it's been made to be "dark" and "realistic." Get a grip, Sonic isn't meant to be realistic.

Mario isn't meant to have a watergun backback, have temporary flying power-ups, use a fishbowl in place of a frogsuit, change metallic, fight an enemy who isn't Bowser Koopa in an RPG adventure, breathe in space, etc. etc. as long as I stick to being dogmatic about what Mario should be from the conventions of the 2D games up to Super Mario World but here's where my powers of creative difference fail:

I'm not Shigeru Miyamoto. Nor are you Yuji Naka, and even though he left Sonic Team, he had much to do with Sonic Next and/or its concept. Not so sure about Wildfire as it was announced when he was leaving, yet Wildfire DOES seem to be the better game...let's just wait until we see the credits to verify before we go on the idea that Sonic can be done right without Naka at helm.

It's more the fact that I'm all for graphical evolutions as game consoles progress rather than the standards of Sonic games. Still it should go hand in hand as I don't expect a Sonic Adventure followup on Next Gen consoles to look have Sonic Heroes' polycount with HDTV resolutions or better textures.

SA already had said drama and realism so I was willing to deal with it.

However if Sonic looks more realistic, it feels more immersive and the only difference is that you can make Sonic do things you wouldn't in real life. While not an innovation, the effect in itself is a sight to see.

I still hate Eggman's redesign.

I can live with the whole princess concept and the Final Fantasy/Chaos-styled monsters.

Also when you remix the Sonic 2 ending theme with vocals, you pretty much suckered me into a sale.

But I'd still give anything for a more abstract Sonic platformer with Yuji and Naoto (meaning it would have to be co-developed with Artoon and assuming Naka can freelance like Sakurai and Mikami) bringing checkboard ledges and spinning flowers to 3D. I'm sure that's what a lot of Sonic fans wanted since the Saturn.

Your best bet is unlocking that stage in SA2 or SA2:B

SOTR has a new concept though, it stands out as something that looks interesting. And hearing the negative comments on Sonic 2006, I am beginning to feel happy that it's potentially gonna flop.

I usually interpret the message that it's some kind of justice for Nintendo because innovation is good and graphics are Frankenstein's monster that we must all bring torches and pitchforks to because only bad can come of them.

No bearing on how Sonic Next can be a good game on the GAMEPLAY or how you have the ability to EXPLORE. I know a lot of people say "Sonic is all about pure speed" but thinking back on levels like Marble, Lava Reef or Metropolis, it's more about controlling that speed.

Secret of the Rings' development is no doubt coming out solid but like Sonic 3 as a standalone cart, I fear the experience will be surprisingly short.

calm down kiddo it's all in good fun, don't be upset.

I just refuse to accept the idea that an on-rails game better suited for the 32-bit era could be better than a full-blown, story heavy 3D Sonic game (PS3/360 Sonic). I'm one of those people. Don't get me wrong, I expect the Secret Rings game to be good, but I just hate seeing people say on-rails is the only way Sonic can ever work in 3D. I'm of the school that thinks Sega got it right the first time with Sonic Adventure, and the PS3/360 Sonic is looking to be continuing that with story emphasis and the return of the Adventure Fields.

Well this is interesting. Apparently Ryan Drummond the previous VA for Sonic is now trying to negotiate with Sega to... well get back his role! This was posted on the 16 of October while I'm at it! From his blog I quote...

SONIC NEWS

Hey all. Okay, I've got 400 emails about this apparent situation where 4Kids is not going to be handling the voices for Sonic anymore. Thanks for the heads up! I've put in some emails to Sega to see if:

1) It's even true to begin with

2) If they're going to be in charge of the voices again

3) What kind of deal we can work out if they're in a postition to do so.

While this may seem like good news, PLEASE don't hold your breath! Many moons and stars will have to allign before this may be any kind of good news for a Sonic/Drummond reunion! Cross your fingers, but really, don't expect anything to happen with this. It's going to take a lot of negotiations and knowing Sega that WON'T be easy.

Thanks for all your well wishing! My love and respect goes out to each and every one of you, as always!

~Ryan

I'd like to see Ryan returning as Sonic. But do I think it's going to happen? Probably not...

Silver the Hedgehog moves slower than Knuckles on the Genesis games. Judging from the videos I've seen. Too bad, I thought three hedgehogs would mean three times the high-speed 3D action. Now it's more that they can't think of any more suitable animals for the job.

Well Silver was originally going to be a mink named Venice... they should have stuck with the mink named Venice.

The thing I like about Sonic to the Sonic Adventure transition and to now is you can just see how much the series goes foward, how it's always pushing the envelope...how from it's roots to now it changed so much, and those we grew up, grew up with Sonic as well.

Love em, love em.

Yuji Naka had no part in that game sunshine.

SatSR is not at all a rails game. You control Sonic to the fullest, jump, attack move. How can that be a rails game? Nope. It is combing the best from 2-D and best from 3-D to make a truly great Sonic game. Oh and both stories sound dumb, there is absolutly nothing interesting about a hedgehog from the future, a princess from a city with a power, recovering stolen pages and a genie.
