To actually answer the topic...
Junichi Masuda has done a very good job with the music so far, and I certainly applaud his efforts. However, what would be awesome beyond belief would be if Koji Kondo had some influence over the tunes that we hear in the game. Face it: everything he touches shimmers with pimposity. He'll make the bike music good, for one, something Masuda seems to have trouble doing. More importantly, together Kondo and Masuda will raise the music in the games to such a level that they won't be repetitive nor ephemeral, not a single piece.
I'll all for this new ear candy. Have Koji Kondo do it for the win, with Masuda making sure it maintains a Pokemon feel.

And the music is fine the way it is. Every region has its own music. This new region isnt gonna be a remake of Hoenn. Now, that would be stupid. Besides all the music sucked except for Hoenn.

I never really cared about the soundtrack, though I think it'll just be the same old, same old. It's a tradition. It would rock if there was real music, but I doubt that'll happen.

I like the idea of downloading music, but I think that would only work if the Pokewatch had a radio, that way you could turn it on and off. I couldn't see them letting you choose your own music for routes and towns.

Downloadable music would be nice, but it would best as a mini function only, possibly accessible through the Poketchi as Omega Pirate suggested. I can certainly think of some music music that describes the way I feel about Factory Head Noland, but needless to say, all the rude songs and therefore all the good ones will probably have been removed from the list.
However, the music is good enough for the games at the moment, even if the Surf music gets stuck in my head. A few little tweaks here and there and we should be heading towards a very good soundtrack. Incedentally, who wants back the spooky music from Lavender Town in r/b/y. They never should have got rid of that. It was ace.
