SP020: The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon - Speculation Thread

The storyline centers on Dr. Yung, an enigmatic Pokémon scientist who has developed a new Mirage System to resurrect extinct Pokémon like Kabutops and Armaldo. Ash, Professor Oak, and Misty show up at the Mirage Mansion at Dr. Yung's invitation, and watch a demonstration of the machine's capabilities. In the middle of a battle between Dr. Yung's Mirage Pokémon and Ash, however, the machine goes haywire and a Mirage Aerodactyl swoops in and kidnaps Dr. Yung. A mysterious stranger appears and announces to everyone that the Mirage System can be used to create Pokémon with absolutely no weaknesses.<p>

Misty and Professor Oak argue that such an abomination will throw off the natural balance of Pokémon, and as they tell him, Mew comes in, which seems to enrage the stranger.<p>

Who is this stranger, and why does he want to control the Mirage Pokémon? Will Ash, Misty, and Professor Oak escape with their lives? Where are Max and May?

Seems the Pokémon created is a Mewtwo

Sounds really 'meh-ish', anyone know where we can see the Preview online? I wouldn't mind checking it out, or if anyone was really really nice and got pictures?

EDIT: If this is a voice test, which it is right? What about Jessie, James and Meowth? They can't have a voice test without May, Max, Brock, Jessie, James and Meowth ;_; Where they in the preview?

I thought the commercial was done really well.

Seems that the mirage pokemon are what they are..mirages,.. and the Mewtwo looks to be a mirage mixed with other mirage pokemon...so this mewtwo will have all these other pokemon attacks and abilities as well.


Lets hope it will be good as well as the voice test.

Interesting thing to note about the no weaknesses aspect:

Mewtwo was shown shooting off random attacks of Water, Fire, Ice, Electric, etc. in all directions. They look like your standard Water Gun, Flamethrower, and the like. One might consider an amalgamation or leeching of powers from the Bird and Beast trio built into the Pokemon with the strongest special and metal power there is (by anime standards). And please be aware that these attacks were randomly being fired from Mewtwo's body. They just opened up and let loose (I believe there were some scenes with him charging the attacks up). Again, it makes me wonder if by 'no weaknesses' they mean 'combining all legendary Pokemon into one,' and not 'being weak to no type.'

We all saw the trailer and despite being an American episode, it looks interesting. I like the animation alot, as well as seeing Mewtwo and that masked cowboy.

anyway, this episode seems to combine two things that most pokemon fans go crazy over.

legendary pokemon and the possiblity of ship hints.

and not much on the new voice cast... :\

If the situation is as grave and unsettling as people say it is, I can see why they would not up-play the new voices. It does not make sense in favor of 4Kids! and common fans would not be phased all that much. No point to it really till the actual special releases.

It looks more like something that Yu-Gi-Oh would make. I'll still watch it but I really don't expect much of anything from it.

The commercial seemed attracting, and I really didn't see any difference in the voices... Then again, wasn't it the announcer speaking the whole time?

Hmmmmm.

But what narrarator? Was it some new guy, or Mike Pollock, the guy who's been doing the narrarating since Early AG? (He also does the voice for Mr. Contesta, I believe.)

Anyone got an answer for this? It would shed some light on the VA matter.

I do. One of the KidsWB announcers (not Jim Cummings or Kevin Michael Richardson). He does mostly the Yu-Gi-Oh advertisements (which is why some find it to be reminiscent of Yu-Gi-Oh).

Yeah, it really reminds me of several fanfictions I've read back in the day D:
This saddens me.
But then again, it really has the same characteristics as fanfictions when Misty is suddenly there and the rest are thrown into the shadows.

Hey, just enjoy it. Not often we get this many continuity-disturpting Legendaries in one spot. Always keep in mind that it will have no bearing on the core streak of episodes and you'll enjoy it much more! ^_^

The whole plot line sort of reminds me of a fanfiction too. Ubers, Misty suddenly appearing, and a new scientist. Hopefully it will be good...
