Try to think of it like me, physical moves are like fighting because they are actually physical. A focus punch (fighting) is very physical because it's a punch.

A special move could be more 'elemental' move where there isn't any physical contact between the pokemon. A thunderbolt for example.

Just to help out a little more.

Following your theory:

Every Beam is a Special move...

Every Punch/Mash/Claw is a Physical move...

Which is not true... every type of a move can be a contact or a non contact one... even if they are special (Fire/Ice/Thunder Punch)...

You are getting Pyshical moves confused with pyshical contact. Every punch has pyshical contact, regardless if pyshical/special
