Special Seviper

PatTar

yee.
i am currently training a seviper, which i plan on making a special sweeper.

Seviper@lefties
Quiet Nature
Giga Drain
Sludge Bomb
Flamethrower

Suggestions Apreciated. i'm thinking about maybe making it a physical sweeper. suggestions for that also please.

Try the main site, theres a Physical sweeper sevi there

Seviper is better as a Physical Sweeper. It learns more physical attacks, and it's a Poison Pokemon which is physical too.

Seviper (Adamant Nature) @Leftovers
EVs: 252 Attack, 172 Speed, 86 Hp
-Sludge Bomb
-EQ
-Body Slam/Return (ingame)
-Glare/Iron Tail

I dunno. This is ingame after all.

You could to a mixed Seviper. o_O That might be more useful. Lonely/Naughty Nature with Flamethrower and Crunch instead of Glare/Iron Tail and Return/Body Slam.

Naughty Nature @ Choice Band/Leftovers
EVs: 28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spd
Earthquake
Sludge Bomb
Iron Tail/Glare
Flamethrower

Iron Tail is just a filler. Glare can work, even on the CB set.

i personally wouldn't use the choice band as its defences aren't that great so it can't keep switching into things. plus paralysis is useful to start a battle with.

prophecy fulfilled
Glare/Sludge Bomb/Earthquake/Flamethrower is a good set tbh

Giga Drain is worthless on it, it doesn't have the SAtk to use it effectivly

It's True. It can both Physical AND Speical sweep because it's Attack and Special Atatck ARE equal :)

Anyhow, I like this on Special Seviper

Seviper@does it really matter in-game?
Modest
HP Special
Crunch
Giga Drain
Flamethrower

Just breed. You could just go with your set If you can't get the right HP.

Special Seviper is a novelty. IMO, just leave your moveset as is :D

yes, but Sludge Bomb is a 90 power move that gains STAB whereas giga drain is a 60 base power move that doesn't. it'd really only be useful against opponents with a 4x weakness to grass attacks [swampert/quagsire, the rock/grounds...] but most of them pack earthquake so it's byebye seviper.
there are no pokemon i can think of with the same base 100 special attack on which giga drain would be recommended unless it gained STAB.

Seviper@ Leftovers
Hasty/Mild
-Flamethrower
-Crunch
-Sludge Bomb
-Giga Drain
(Giga Drain for the ground types. imo, it might work.)

...it might work. hell, i use giga drain on my special seviper, but that's cause i'm stingy with my tms and i bred giga drain.
i went modest and with Glare over Sludge Bomb, mainly because his speed isn't that great, and because ingame it's a lot easier to EV pokemon that are streamlined in one attacking stat

Hasty makes him a little speedier.
You need Sludge Bomb for the STAB.
You will only ever be Giga Draining the Rock/Ground Types anyway. If you Giga Drain anything else, you WILL die.

No, thats called being lazy.

This is in-game, so isn't Poison Fang an option? I like the 30% toxic chance, despite the poor % chance, and only 50 damage.

Although, saying that, wouldn't it be best to use toxic itself on a toxicer?

he's not gonna be speedier than much though. and his defences are fragile enough without losing 10% to a hindering nature

not really, because it means you'll have to fight more battles to complete EV training than with other EV spreads. although i'm the first to admit that i'm lazy as hell and often try to look for pokes to train that have the simplest EV spreads.

Lets face it, Seviper is crap. Lowering its lowest stat isn't going to change much. While making it a tad more powerful will. It needs the Extra Sp Attack/Speed, while it doesn't mind the lacking defences.

Ev Training is the only way I ever consider training a Pokemon in-game. People that don't do it "because it means you'll have to fight more battles to complete EV training than with other EV spreads" is just being lazy in my books
