Spicing up older Pokemon

This can't really go under new Pokemon, and it doesn't fit gameplay ideas too well either, so this topic was created to discuss what older Pokemon could gain in D/P in order to spice them up or improve them.

Myself, I think Dewgong should get Serene Grace. C'mon, there isn't a shadow of a doubt that he is one of the most shafted Pokemon ever. He has a shallow movepool and medium stats. Thus, because of his elegance, he should get Serence Grace, and some decent secondary effect moves to go with it, along with the few he has already. Oh yeah, while you're at it Nintendo (if at all), give him Confuse Ray as well.

I doubt that will happen, because Nintendo seems to hate Dewgong, along with Pinsir and Hypno. They always give things to Scyther/Scizor, Alakazam and Lapras, but the three others don't get anything.

I was also thinking Pinsir could get a new Bug move of some sort, something powerful, and Hypno should get an ability other thasn Insomnia.

Discuss what you think older Pokemon should get to improve them or make them more interesting.

they don't tend to change older pokemon that drastically, unless they add a totally new system, such as happiness or abilities.

so I doubt they'll give older pokemon new abilities like Serene Grace to Dewgong...

new moves however are to be expected though.

From a technical view, I'm pretty sure that abilities for Pokemon only can change if they only have one ability available at the present. With that being said, however, I doubt they would change the ability of a Pokemon, but I'm not going to assume they outright won't at this point in time considering that this has been the first generation with abilities.

Anyways, I think Crunch is much in order for a lot of Dark types as well as Gengar. Seriously, why shouldn't he be allowed to have the move with those huge, grinning chompers? :p

They wouldn't change abilities but as others said giving new moves and of course adding pre-evolutions and evolutions.

All I know is that Hoothoot and Noctowl should be Dark-types.

Banette, Hoothoot and Noctowl are bird pokemon. Unless that was sarcasm DO'H (slaps hand with face).
On topic now, some of this should go in the new attacks or Ideas for new pokemon threads.

I would LOVE to see another ability option for Tyranitar... I'm sure a lot of us who like that Pokemon would. Infact, the only reason I don't use it now is because it's ability sucks. They should give it something like Rock Head or Intimidate. Lots of Pokemon have 2 ability options, so why not Tyranitar? n_n;

I don't know... Tyranitar is already pretty strong... giving it the choice of a second ability would probably make it a tad too powerful...

plus it wouldn't be fair to it's counterparts, Dragonite (only has inner focus), Salamence (only has Intimidate) and Metagross (only has Clear Body)

If they changed what Special Abilities a Pokémon has, they'd revert back if they're traded to a GBA game. GF likes to keep continuity between the games, so I doubt they'd do this. What they can do is give new moves, as people have said. Here's a few they'd better give:

-Skill Swap for Hypno by level-up. (currently learned by TM)
-Signal Beam (or other strong Bug move) for Ariados by level-up/tutor/TM. (currently an Egg Move)
-TAIL GLOW FOR AMPHAROS!! Please, GF, remember our favourite Electric Dragon who's known for his Glowing Tail. If they don't give him Tail Glow, I'll have to follow in Eternal's (Etheral's) footsteps and become an emo kid.

Sandstream is what makes Tyranitar unique which is always good in my book. Sandstream is also a really good ability if it fits a team but can be a very bad one if it doesnt. Giving him another ability would make him one of the most over used pokemon ever(even more so than he is now). While IMO he deserves to be used this much it would make him too overpowered.

I think the only real extra that current pokemon will get is learning new moves through new TMs and move tutors. This is unless they add in a new battle mechanic.

Another ability for Tyranitar... something useless, methinks, to not break him, and Dragonite and Metagross would have to get another one as well.
I also think Wigglytuff should get Huge Power, as Azumarrill does, and they're very similar.

But then, Nintendo shows favouritism for Charetard, Alakazam, etc. while ignoring much cooler and more interesting pokes such as Typhlosion and Hypno. Just 'cause they're popular. Ugh. In fact, I'd like ANYTHING WORTH USING for Dewgong, same with Pinsir, because he rules all. I'd also like Machamp to get another decent physical move, he doesn't seem to have too much of a movepool (hopes Signal Beam or Shadow Ball).

And Ledian: Morning Sun. While not overly useful, he does come out in the morning, and this move is as of yet still too exclusive. I'm not saying make all Pokemon useful, or there'd be no balance between the good and the bad, but give otherwise decent Pokemon something more, a chance to prove themselves.

How about suggesting moves that will actually benefit the pokemon?

Morning Sun Sunflora, Comet Punch Clarfairy..... absolutely useless.

For the guy/girl who suggested Intimidate Tyranitar, you've got to be frikkin kidding me. That thing's a monster already, if anything it should be weakened, not strengthened. While we're at that, why not give Snorlax Huge Power and Metagross Levitate????

I'd personally want more pokemon to be able to use Heal Bell or Aromatherapy. Then people would not always resort to Blissey and Celebi for healers.

Same here. I'm surprised Parasect and Vileplume have Aromatherapy but not Meganium. It's madness. But more Aromatherapy and Heal Bell Pokemon would work well.

But who could get either of those two? Sunflora? Dewgong? (obsession again)

And also, while I'm here, Victreebel needs something offensive. Sludge Bomb, Grass attacks and normal attacks just don't cut it.

Well i think that they should give metagross lavitate cuz he can float, also i'de like to see alakazam, other than that <-- i hope that alot of pokemon should have new moves...etc

I agree with that (As Victreebel is MY favourite) but really, I can't think what kind of move would be appropriate for her. Perhaps a fighting-type move to show she's good with her tendrils? Maybe something like Vital Throw or Submission would be good, as they kinda fit with her flavour and would be at least a bit helpful. And since her attack > Sp. Att (309 vs 299 w/ neutral nature) it would kinda work.

Victreebel's an old favourite of mine as well. There's no shadow of a doubt that I have a Victreebel somewhere at any given time.

Vital Throw eh? Interesting, but I was hoping for Rock Slide. Covers most of his weaknesses, and gives him a viable move to use against Flying types. It could be used in the same way, but I doubt it will get either. Just something, I was annoyed when his Special Defense was piledrived in GSC.

Also, Dodrio nees Earthquake. Not sure why, but it seems to make sense.
