I might be Team Treat this time. I think I was Team Trick last time.

I think I missed out on this Splatfest last time. Still have a couple of weeks left before I have to pick a team. Choices choices...

You are now able to pick your side for the Mario themed Splatfest.

And yes, they do acknowledge the fact that the Splatocalypse was supposed to be the final Splatfest for the in-game dialogue.

So hyped for this. Gotta get 2 when I can though.

I’m guessing if Team Order won, there would be robots running amok.

Totally didn't expect this. I know some people were talking about the possibility, but with Splatoon 2 already on the same system and still being supported, I didn't think they'd do it. Or at the very least it'd be a spinoff or something that wouldn't cannibalize 2's sales. I'm excited for it regardless, Splatoon is such a fun game, but I am questioning what's different about it. For the most part, it just looks like the same old Splatoon with an apocalyptic wasteland setting, they haven't shown anything truly mindblowing yet gameplay wise. There were 2 new moves shown (via Twitter which I'll link below), the Squid Roll which seems like a dodging move, and the Squid Surge which seems to be a BotW-esque midair jump and aim move, and then there's the cube things to launch into the stage, but again, those are tweaks, not really big new things. The setting and premise does lend itself towards adding some larger mechanics that could make the experience quite different, such as larger, more open maps to be used for a Battle Royale mode or a more open world/exploration focused single player campaign, but those have yet to be confirmed. For now, I'm cautiously optimistic. There could be some neat things in this game, but there hasn't been anything major confirmed yet, so we'll have to wait and see if they reveal any big new mechanics later on.

Also @AuraChannelerChris you missed several Twitter posts that reveal even more about the game.

Anyway yeah, I'm really hoping the Splatlands are a little more explorable. Splatoon's ink swimming mechanics lend themselves well towards exploring and navigating environments fairly quickly, so it'd be great to put them to use for exploration in the single player. Considering it's been 5 years since 2, they can probably afford the ambition this game needs to feel markedly different, so I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to expect.

Splatoon 3 just had its direct. Any thoughts?

I'm glad we got to see more of the game. Interesting trio dynamic with the cast announcers and Splatfests.

Also, a few things were not shown in the direct. One is about save data from Splatoon 2.
This is mostly for ranks in the more competitive side of things, but you can get some tickets for weapons if you want them early.

Love the Big Man
Shiver is probably my favorite of the three, but I like them all.

It's a little weird though. It's like having a Futurama group, and having Leela, Amy, and Zoidberg (though Zoidberg wins there).

Edit: Shiver's gender identity is currently thought to be ambiguous, but more of my point is that you have two humanoid cephalopod characters, and then you have one that is unapologetically another animal altogether.

What's even the point of Splatfests anymore when we all know Big Man will win 'em all.
