Eh, Raihan was like a dragon trainer in name only. He was more like a weather leader. Volkner was all Electric types all the time, not to mention that Rain Dance is a TM learned by tons of Electric types so he didn't need Pelipper in the first place.

How can you say that Volkner was an Electric-type leader all the time when his original squad was just 50% Electric - exactly like Raihan? I get it, Raihan had an additional gimmick, but it's not as if it's actually new to see Volkner with a Water-type on his team. In fact, he now owns three for as far as I know (Octillery, Lanturn (part Electric) and Pelipper) and they still make sense as his gym is based at a coastal shoreline.

A Water/Flying-type is also useful against Ground. There are several Leaders who use types outside their specialty. It isn't weird nor does it make them any less specialists.

Yeah I've always found the vitriol against chibi designs absurd. Granted sometimes I'd prefer a different style, but I think they fit this game.
I like the art style too as it is almost exactly like the original games’ art style yet different enough to be its own thing.

Do we know where all the TMs are located? I can see that the Game Corner TMs can be bought at the Department Store now, and I can assume that most TMs returning from DP will be in the same locations they were there. But what about HMs now that their out-of-battle application is a Poketch feature, or new moves coming to the game like Scald or Bulldoze?

Yeah, honestly, I actually liked the art style of this pair of games right from the start. I actually never knew there is a stigma against graphical styles in games where characters have big heads and small bodies (at least where the character design itself isn't like that).
I think it’s less of a stigma towards chibi styles and more of a stigma of things not meeting people’s expectations. Before BDSP was announced everyone expected the Sinnoh remakes to look like this based on the progression we got from past remakes like HGSS, ORAS, & Let’s Go:

When the games were officially announced, they slammed the chibi style because it felt like Pokémon was taking two steps back and that people weren’t getting Sinnoh reimaginings with the most recent region’s game engine that they wanted. It also didn’t help that the lighting & rendering in the first trailer looked horrible (even though now I think BDSP are the best pokémon games to date in terms of visuals)

What's wrong with Fantina's gym? What specifically are you referring to that they went back to? Her being the fifth gym?
The gym puzzle in the original DP games. Instead of what Platinum had, you had to answer easyass math questions where you have to intentionally get them wrong in order to fight trainers.

Has there been a confirmed method of farming apriballs in game?

Is it still possible to catch a Gengar in the Old Chateau (the Room with eyes)? In D/P/Pt you needed to insert a GBA game.

You're point.. being.. totally.. in.. NO way.. comprehensible?!

Did you not play the original Diamond and Pearl? Not judging it's just I thought it was pretty clear they were talking about Fantina's original gym puzzle which was just a bunch of math problems, her gym's kinda infamous in that regard. I personally didn't mind it but it was a pretty dumb puzzle because it in no way related to her preferred typing or personality unless Fantina secretly likes math.

I like to imagine that she's actually an office worker or an accountant (with her real name being her Japanese name Melissa) and Fantina's just some persona she uses when battling

Easy?! I had some trouble with some of them because I have a learning disability that makes doing math very difficult for me. Sometimes I can’t even do math when I write down the problem on paper. So don’t think that a puzzle that’s easy for you is going to be easy for everyone else. Plus I found the Pt Hearthome Gym puzzle even more annoying than the one in DP.

The only reason the original was easy was because they gave you a calculator, at least I'm pretty sure it was before that.

That would be a cool plot twist.

I've heard that the gym had a math puzzle as a pun on Drifblim's ability - "Aftermath" - as in you only fight the leader "after (doing) math."

Is that what the whining was about?

I've played Pokémon since 1999.. Diamond is probably my most played game in terms of logged hours.

The amount of time you play a game doesn't give you more insight in the online discourse about a negligable point about the game. Also, it's a kids game, whether it's hard mathproblem for an adult is beside the point. I think the elevators going quite high references fear of heights.

Honestly, a lot more people were whining about skipping Hearthome originally and that it got 'fixed' in Platinum. To which I didn't agree, but okay.

It's not about the amount of time we get out of it. It's about theming and creativity. What do math problems have to do with Fantina or Ghost-types in general?

No one was really whining, a lot of people are just annoyed because it makes no sense for Fantina or the ghost type to deal in math problems. The only thing that could remotely be related is the elevator being related to a fear of heights but even then it's a stretch

I think the theory I posted above holds some weight. In Platinum, her gym designed changed, and coincidentally she no longer used a Drifblim with Aftermath as the ability. In DP, the math theme seems to be a pun.

If you think of it this way, it's pretty clever. Aftermath is a "ghostly" concept if you think about it in a looser sense; those who pass leave consequences and unfinished business behind.

That's the only way it could possibly make sense.

Yes but he stands out because as of the remakes and rematches, he's the only one I saw who had a pokemon who was not of a type that is their own. And once again, there were other Electric types he could have used for setting up Rain or with a ground immunity.
You can say the same about Aaron with his Drapion and even more Flygon.
