A while back I bought a copy of emerald and I was so excited, but I later found out that the game itself was not the usual green, it was a dull grey. Now, having read through these forums before hand I automatically assumed that the game was a fake. I confirmed these fears after my save file was "erased due to corruption or damage."

However, I have a plan. As we all know unmentionable devices corrupt your game. Since this game is already corrupted I was hoping that the devices could be used fine. My biggest worry is that the pokemon obtained through this method would also carry the corruption ability? (sorry, no better words.) Or would the trade from the evil emerald to the real emerald, FR, ruby or sapphire stuff up the games?

The only known virus that can be transferred to your Pokemon is PokeRus. Anything else, I'm not sure. I really don't think it's possible for your Pokemon to get the corrupted file from the, er... "Evil Emerald". It might just put a bug in your game, or totally destroy the internal battery.

It's the bug in the game part or the destruction of the internal battery part I'm worried about. I think I read somewhere that corrupted games could corrupt games that traded with them and I'm just trying to confirm or dispel that

Okay, first, don't double post.

Second, so if you already knew that trading with a bugged game could also ruin your other games, why are you risking your FRLG or any other of your games by trying to trade with a corrupted game?

If it has a bug, don't play it. It might just ruin your internal battery, bug your other games, or even damage your gaming system.

It's not a "virus", and I don't think a game can be corrupted if you trade with a fake game, if it's even possible to trade.

I say don't waste your time on the game at all. 90% of the time you'll find your save file corrupting.

I don't think so, I also have a fake Emerald and I traded the Pokemons to my real Emerald, and now the file's still okay.

would the FR or other game still be fine (or its save file) if the pokemon traded were obtained by a cheating device?

Maybe so... But you never really know. You ARE trading from a corrupted game after all.
