Spriting Help

Jimmy P.

First shiny!!
I'm not sure if this should go here or in Fan Art, but I have a question about spriting and such:
How do you make the transparent backgrounds, or white-be-gone pictures/sprites/etc?
I'd like to know, because I feel like "opening" up a shop in Fan Art Requests, but I'd think it would be better and neater if my sprites didn't have any background on them. So if somebody has the answer to that question, please help me.

which program are you using?
I'm not sure about other programs but in GIMP you go to [Layer > transparency > add alpha channel.
Then you get the magic wand, click on the white, get the rubber put it on full size and rub all the white.
Don't worry about the not white parts because they will stay there.

I'm talking about using MS Paint.
Also I've looekd at the Fan Sprites section where the tutorials are but I couldn't find anything to do with this.
Maybe I should ask somebody there...

You can't use MSPaint to transparentize the sprite. Other programs such as THE Gimp, Paint .Net and Photoshop are able to as mentioned in the Sprite Tutorials.
