Squilickys First Scratch Sprite!

Heyy everyone its me again.

I have suddenely gotten interested in scratch spriting so i took it upon myself to try one out here is the result.

Its called Porygon+. I know it is probably gonna get some bad crit but i thought i would see what you guys thought i should do to improve. Please may i get some C+C for this scratch sprite and thanks for your time.

Ah, this is very good, if its your first one.
The only problem i see here is the shading
Nearly all pokemon sprites have shading from the top-left corner,
and the body doesn't real show this.

Oh and the behind foot seems a little big. for the anatmony
of the pokemon,

but otherwise, a v.good sprite ^_^

He's right, it's good for your first sprite. shading is off. You have the light source above and in front of the sprite. And would this come from Porygon-Z? Because I would see it as a branch evolution from POrygon2 only because there is no pokemon with 4 in it's evolutionary line.

Thanks for the crit and that. Umm yes this is from porygon2 you need to get the positive proton item to get it though. Im just wondering how can i solve my shading problem?

Try working on a new pose. That can sometimes help fix shading problems. And until you get the hang of shading, try shading with an existing sprite next to yours.

I think the problem is that it's side on. It's kinda hard to make a side on sprite look like it's not 2D. Although it's better, it's not as good as it could be. I think the best thing for it would be a new pose because at the moment, it's head is the best part of it, and I wouldn't resprite that. That's actually a very good head for it, I just think that the body will need to to be scratched again. Keep the body idea, but look at Porygon and Porygon2's HGSS sprites and try and work your body to make it fit in with how the body is situated on them.

These arn't bad for first scratch sprites, however, I can see quite a lot of things that need fixing. Firstly, the fact that you have use white fo the lightest shade makes it looks tacky, like the older sprites. (eg. RBYGSC sprites) In places there are sharp corners that shouldnt be there (At least I think so because I'm pretty sure that it's supposed to be round) and when Serris said to repose it, he meant to do almost a completely new sprite, not just to change certain aspects of the original. And, what is the block of pixels sticking off its back supposed to be?

Anyway, I'm sorry if I sounded harsh, but hopefully this will help. The idea itself is very original though, and will probably look really cool when it's done. I look forward to seeing the new and improved porygon+.

thanks for the crit i agree after looking again it is prety jaggy i will sort that out and put a new one on tommorow

It looks even blockier than before. I don't think extending the body was what should be done to it. I reckon you need a completely new body for it. like, in the position of the sprite, of course.

This is much better! ^_^
The only thing i see, is the head seems a bit to big
for the body and the neck does not suit it
, and the shading on the tail is abit off..

But this is a big improvment and
the body suits' it more!

Well done! :D
