Stadium 2 - Worth the cash?

I don't know about anywhere else in the world, but in Europe Pokemon Stadium 2 is hard to come by.

I mean, at the time of the game's release the N64 was pretty much dead. That's why Stadium 2 (as well as other later releases like Paper Mario, Conker's BFD and Banjo Tooie are also pretty rare) is pretty damn expensive.

It'll set you back about £25-£30 ($50+) to get this game boxed, good condition and instructions.

Of course, you can go the cheaper route if you're 'buying to play' (rather than collect) and go cart only for about £18 ($30-odd).

Was just wondering, seeing as I only owned Stadium 2 for a very short time the last time I had it (therefore didn't get to appreciate it really), those of you who own the game - would you say it's worth the money for a cart only version?

I do have a transfer pack (from my Stadium 1) and I've got all three Second Generation games, so I can fully use Stadium 2's features in that respect.

So basic question - should I get it?

Thanks in advance, y'all. :)

In my opinion, Stadium 2 was the best out of the Stadium/Collo/XD series thingy. It appealed to me more anyway. Oh and, unless you really need to know what's going on, only get the cart. The game's simple enough.

"Now juz get yourself a dictionary."

A) Stadium 2 compataility with all the good N64 emulators is pretty crap

B) Owning the real thing is far better than owning a ROM - I can use a proper controller for a start.

C) How do you propose I use the transfer pack to use/play my Gold, Silver and Crystal? Yeah, thought so.

D) I'm not so morally bankrupt that if I want a game, I just turn to piracy.

Yeah, I don't really need instructions or box and all that, but it's much nicer wouldn't you say? Especially considering it's kind of a rarity and the value has gone up over the past year...

I might just go for it - I've got the money. It's only an extra £5 or so to get it boxed, mint and with instructions and all that.

Heh, if you wanna.
It will then be worth more later on if you decide to sell it. But then, if you not gonna, it's a waste of money. Bah, what's five quid/whatever to a person anyway? I'd take it.

If you still like second generation, yes.

If you don't really like it, no.

Believe me - I bum the 2nd gen. Personally my favourite generation. :)

I'm just gonna go for it. Dunno why I bothered to ask here really, if I was just gonna go for it anyway. :D

Glad I don't live in England, I guess. I found the cart at GameStop for $10. But really. You should try Ebay. I'm sure you can find it cheaper than $30 even with the added shipping for overseas.

Yeah, but I have to buy the PAL version - I don't have an NTSC N64 so I can't play imports.

And if I was to buy an import game converter, the price difference between a PAL game, and a converter+US game wouldn't be much.

But I just did it now - just paid for the game. Boxed, instructions, leaflets....all mint condition. £22. (About $40-something)

Still got enough money left over to buy Pokemon Blue (boxed, instructions etc.) so my 1st and 2nd gen collection will be complete. :)

If you can sit through Masterball challenge cup round 1 and (dear god) 2!!! Than yes, it is a very fun game and worth the money.

Mew King

It's black magic!
It is one of the better games of the N64 era. For the money, it is worth it. Especially with the minigames. I loved them so much! They are at least 20% of the awesomeness of the game!

Woo, the game arrived this morning! So totally worth the £25 ($50?) I spent on it.

Deleted the old saved data off there so I can battle through Gym leader castle - using my high level Pokemon off my Silver cart. :)

Awesome awesome awesome.
