Starfox?

Question here; see for Christmas I want a Starfox game, but I can't decide between Adventure, Assualt, and Command. (the reason being is because I dont know a lot about them) x.x I have one of the first ever Starfox games (Umm...second Starfox ever made (I think) for the N64) and I really liked it so..

Can anyone please tell me about the games? (w/o giving anything away please ^^) And which ones came out first? Thanks. =3

And sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. x___x

This is the wrong section and hopefully a mod would move it.

All three games are lackluster compared to Star Fox 64. However, if you want semi-classic Star Fox action with classic controls, get Assult.

Adventures is only really good if you like Legend of Zelda like games.

Command's controls are a bit ackward and is a bit of a strategy game rather than a plain old space shooter.

Order:
Adventures (2002)
Assault (2004)
Command (2006)

Command.

Assualt is horrible and only half the missions are Arwing missions (and that is five) and lack replay value. Multiplayer is fun though IMO.

Starfox Adventures should not be classified as a starfox game. It is a catagory of its own, for better of for worse.

I second all of the above. Command has its own quirks (which are more just "different" than "worse") that make it stray from the classic formula, but the core gameplay is the most solid (and actually the most similar to SF64).

The only difference between Command is playing as other pilots, the defend great-fox thing, the great fox itself, and the controls.

Controls will annoy to death at first, but you WILL get used to them.

Other difference are for keeping it new and not a remake of SF64 with different story and enemies.

Starfox Adventures may not count as an actual Starfox game, but it's still pretty damn good. In addition to lovely Zelda-esqaue gameplay, it also has Arwing shoot-em-up sections to keep Starfox fans satisfied, and you can charge around on dinosaurs tearing up everything in your path, so it's definately worth getting.

Hmmm...I think I'll choose Adventures..since it came before Assualt and all (I fear of not understanding the plot in Assualt if I don't play the one before it x.x). Maybe Command too..but that all depends if Pokemon Diamond comes out before Christmas or not..

You mean where the main characters goes around on foot most of the time and kills people with his sword rather than his ship?

Yea..I like those games a lot. I mean, even though I never really played Legend of Zelda games (only the most early ones for the GBC) I kinda get your drift.

Starfox Adventures is hard, challenging, and a lot of fun.

I never really found Adventures terribly hard, except perhaps the on-rails sections, the Kronoa trials, and the boss-fights. Still, it's challenging enough to keep you occupied, and it's also very long, so you should check it out.
Assault's on-foot missions were absolutely horrible. Dash blindly around some horribly-designed enemy-stronghold and try to locate and destroy hidden machines. *Yawn*

I haven't played Command, so I'll just have my part of this between Adventures and Command.

Adventures was my first Star Fox game, so it brings back some nostalgia, but I'll try to not be biased. Adventures is a great game if you like, as said before, Legend of Zelda games and the like. You still get to fly around, but it's much more of an on-foot game.

Assault wasn't too bad, but was a bit too short. The on-foot missions are nothing compared to Adventures, but this game doesn't focus on on-foot missions like Adventures does. The Arwing missions are fun, though. It does bring some old "friends" back that weren't in Adventures. Overall, I liked Assault.

I'm hoping to get Command soon..

Thank you Come again
I absolutley love Starfox Adventures! I miss Rare very much...
If your getting Starfox Adventures to follow up your Starfox 64 happiness, you will be dissapointed, as the Arwing scenes are very few. However, If you are an avid Legend of Zelda fan (and enjoy foxes and dinosaurs...AND RARE) you should very much give this game a go!
9 out of ten in my book.
See ya round and hope this helped,

I really liked adventure, but like most people have said, it is not a typical Star Fox game. I really enjoyed it though. If you want something like SF64, then go for one of the other 2. I can not comment on command, as I have not played it, but Assault is not to difficult, and extremly sort.

command is fun... but short... but thats the only good one out now

Hmm...well if what tangelax said is true, then I think I will go with Command and Adventures; then maybe Assualt for my b-day, or sometime later on. It will be fun to try something new. :3

Thanks for eveybody that helped in this thread. I really appreciate you all helping me with questions like these! x.x; *dies*
