T-Bolt
I-Beam

How so? Psychic, when used by Starmie, gets a nice STAB. Not to mention it's one of the best moves in the game and benefits from Starmie's high Special Attack as well.

What are you going to use Psychic on? Poisons? That's a complete waste of space IMO.

I still don't understand why, though. It's super-effective on Poison and Fighting types, gets the STAB, and is stronger than Surf to use on almost anything you can't trump.

surf's power is 95

psychic's is 90

anyway, surf/ice beam and thunderbolt covers EVERYTHING in the game except shedinja and lanturn.

psychic won't do **** to sheddy anyway, and what's the point in waiting to get thunderbolted by lanturn?

Recover is so much better as it keeps you in and like any fightning/poison types will actually stay in against starmie waiting to be psychic'd

Okay, so I made a mistake with the numbers. Big deal.

Unless Starmie learns Shadow Ball (which I am unsure of) I highly doubt it gets ANY attack that hits Shedinja.

Try Gengar. I know you're going to say "Switch, because of Shadow Ball," but a properly trained Starmie will outrun almost every Gengar you see. I don't see Surf or Ice Beam OHKO'ing Gengar, do you?

All it hits is Gengar, Heracross, and Weezing. Starmie owns Weezing anyway, Heracross survives Psychics and beats Starmie's *** with Megahorn, and it can 2HKO Gar with Surf at full health (not that it should be staying in without Psychic, but whatever).

Anti-Spikes-Stamie:

[Modest] @ Leftovers, or something
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin

Don't forget that, it scares away Skarmory big time.
Remember, always BoltBeam* on Starmie! That owns almost everything.

* Thunderbolt and Ice Beam.

Aha, it's for in-game.
No need to rate... Just BoltBeam, almost, anything away. Dammit...

Damn pharaohguy530; "any nature is fine" WTF do you mean?
I can give you a quite good example of a Nature that wouldn't work; Adamant (+Atk -SpA)

I would say a great set would be like this:

[Modest / Timid] @ Leftovers
- Psychic / Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Recover
