• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

I said it awhile back but I'd love if Rowlet's shiny had the colors of Autumn

That would actually be pretty awesome! Oranges, reds, and browns! I once made a god of autumn for an original story of mine that was a bird and its feathers resembled autumn leaves, so of course that idea sounds nice to me. ;)

I'm kind of scared that Rowlet will just be treated as one of those "edgy" Pokemon and get given pure black for its shiny, where I can actually see its colours being inverted. Its main body being green, and stuff like its bowtie being the beige colour of its regular body, as for Litten, I wouldn't mind it getting a shiny pattern that makes it look like a white tiger.

I would love it for Litten and his final evolutions to get white instead of red! make it look like the Las Vegas tigers that there are in events.

All this talking about science and biology in a world where an otter can become a sea lion just beacuse Masuda and Sugimori wanted to. Guys:

Pokemon here

Real Life here

Stop looking for a rational meaning in Popplio gender. Raichu is now part psychic because of pancakes!!!!
I'm picking that creepy sea lion anyway, It will become a fabulous mermaid (male, female, straight, gay, trans whatever!).

ALLEGEDLY because it likes pancakes. That's just the leading hypothesis of the Alolan people, my friend.

Alolan Raichu's in universe explanation for being a different type is pancakes (and as said merely allegedly ) not the irl reason. (That seems to be more injokes, explanation for the air surfing and to differentiate from normal raichu, still logical they just didn't feel the need to make an in universe explanation likely because of the injoke nature)
Plus logical reasoning still exists, it's not like there's no connection bewtween dewott and samarott (just not the species in this case)

I would accept the popplio evolution design more if it lost the hair braids and the pony tail. It would look at least more natural then. I dont like pokemon have basically something that human of a characteristic in its design.

I do love the white tiger idea! I never considered an edgy Pokémon, but it does happen. We have black Charizard and black Greninja... Blue Emboar, etc. Rowlett does seem to be the MVP this gen, even to GF. Alternatively, they could just make Litten jet black and make his stripes black...

I would love it for Litten and his final evolutions to get white instead of red! make it look like the Las Vegas tigers that there are in events.

Gamefreak is crazy if they don't go for the white shiny for Litten.

Behold everyone, my fan rendition of Litten's shiny and what it could look like:

Anyone want to speculate with me on shiny colours for the base forms?

I'm kinda worried they are gonna be subtle differences. I love drastic colour changes...I liked fennekin's shiny more than Chespin and Froakie's for example.

I'm hoping Litten gets a full colour change not just like blue stripes instead of red. I secretly want purple popplio, because purple is my favorite colour! I have no idea where to take Rowlett, I feel like he'd be more like Chespin with just darker Brown where he's green.

As long as the shinies have noticeable changes I'll be happy. Some starters had disappointing shinies while others looked really cool. Sceptile, Charizard, Emboar and Delphox are some of my fave shinies while Swampert and Typhlosion are among my least favourites.

For Rowlet I don't see the brown colours changing to much if at all but I can see the greens becoming red or orange, representing autumn leaves. I think that'd be a cool shiny for it.

For Litten I think it'll become a slightly lighter grey with yellow or yellowy orange stripes. Wouldn't be my ideal choice but it feels like something GameFreak would do.

For Popplio I can see it turning pale turquoise, dark blue or purple, the latter of which I do not want. We've had too many purple and pink water shinies already so I'd like to see something different for Popplio especially when Popplio's final evo is my fave Gen7 Pokemon so far (provided the leak is real).

What's so important about Popplio's final evo being feminine? Is it a shock to everyone? What's so astonishing about it? We've had tons of masculine and feminine Pokémon over the years. I don't see what the problem is.

there's never been one that's so overtly towards one gender. It's also odd because Popplio is probably going to 87.5% male and 12.5% female like all starters

Well popplio3 would be very nice if you have a female popplio, I just don't think it would fit a male popplio tbh. That is the main issue i guess.]

Just like litten3 would be odd if you have a female litten.

That is exactly the problem. It just doesn't fit for 87.5% of Popplio3. Now if they were to have gender differences and we've only seen the female version then that would be fine.

Yes I completely agree, I really hope there will be some gender differences or split evolutions. I guess we will find out soon enough.

Everything stays.
If male Popplio bothers you so much, just get a female and don't make it an issue. Believe me, 99% of young kids won't care about the gender of their Pokémon. They just want the Pokémon.

Some people will want their Popplio to be male. There is more to it than just... human expectations on what a male and female body would look like. You can't apply these same rules of "genderization" on fictional creatures like Pokémon.

If you know beforehand that Popplio is going to turn out the way it does and you associate it with feminity, then just get a female Popplio. End of story.

That's how the anime handles it feminine pokemon. So probably the best move.

......except it's not even a human. Why would a non-humanoid creature need to conform to the sexual dimorphism of human beings? It's not like a majority of fans don't care about these "odd occurrences" such as female Machamp, male Gardevoir, etc. Besides, it's not like we have plenty of Pinniped-based Pokemon that are more like the males of the species (even if it is female.)

And again, seals and sea lions evolutionary adaptations favored the males for gene diversity sake, so basically it's the bull ability to reproduce the one that dictates the adaptational traits that are passed down, hence males having the wildest adaptations to ensure they pass their genes.

This is thrown out of the water if this is a Selkie, but biologically wise a vanilla female sea lion doesn't really showcase the extreme adaptations those sea mammals have gone through.

Except for leopards wich are about the same size, the male sings and the females seem to be more curious as males are loners, but who knows at this point they have been mostly studied in captivity or on the behavior of females.

>Implying there hasn't ever been a Pokemon that has a mythological basis, and has only been purely genetic/biological.

It's quite clear Pop3 is based on a Seal and a Mermaid/Siren or just a Selkie. Therefore, why would it need to be just like a normal Pinniped, especially if that's been down many times before?
