• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Yeah I see your point with froakie and chespin. I was just trying to look at all the clues they have given us as and make my speculation based on them. Personally I would love to have a ninja frog, and I would hate to have a water starter with a 4x weakness to electricity. Although water/fighting or water/dark would be interesting to see, they don't sound like starter type material to me. But I'm hopeful that GF surprises me. =]

Well, let's just wait GF to surprise us and made Froakie line to be pure water. ;)

After three generations of Fire/Fighting(and the complaints of the fans that followed), it came as no surprise to me that they would type this gens fire starter the polar opposite of fighting.

Sometimes I wonder what the guys back in gamefreak were smoking when they were making Pignite and Emboar in 5th gen. Were they drunk or something....I mean really.

Well, duh.

I mean, FIRE BEARD.

But really, I'm looking forward to Fennekin's final evolution. There will be amazingness...

LOL! Agreed. I don't usually wish harm to others, but the person responsible for that decision really needs a mental evaluation of some sort, or at the very least a company performance review. =]

Not sure what I think about Chespin's evolved form. I was a bit unsure of whether the roundness of its body was part of some sort of armor or not, but judging from the description of it, I suppose it is indeed armor. Wonder how its final evolution will look?

Fennekin's evolved form has sort of a lady-like humanoid fox look going on, and I think it looks pretty cool. And it uses that stick in its tail as a wand? Whoa, it just got even cooler! I do wonder what direction its final form will go in. Will it look even more human-ish?

And Froakie's evolved form, wow, I'm surprised at how cool this thing looks! I hope the final form looks cool too.

The funny thing is Chimchar and Torchic, you can kind of see them going fighting type. With Tepig I think every one was convinced there was NO way it could be fighting type.

Personally, I believe that Chespin will become a knight. According to its description and classification, there's enough evidence to support the theory. And here's another; what if it evolves into some sort of black knight? That would be quite interesting.

I don't know if what I'm going to say is OT or not but.....have you ever noticed that the fire starters (also their evos) are based on the signs of te chinese zodiac.
It was thanks to a kind soul who posted this on the internet that I discovered it. LOL
Back on topic, Chespin is going to become a knight without a doubt and I'm looking forward to it. :D

The 2nd time with Infernape was ok, I mean you do twice....but the third time? And as you said Chimchar actually made sense to be fire/fighting....but Tepig??? I thought it would end up Fire/Ground because Water/Ground and Grass/Ground were done...so only one remains....and I expected it to be the first fire starter on 4 legs but it turned bipedal and part fighting.....oh gf.

On topic: pin missle, rollout and mud shot...neither give hints to chespin's final type.

I think it will stay 87.5%/12.5% (or 7:1 if you like).
This is because all other starters have this ratio, even Meganium who is also quite feminine.
This is to keep them hard to breed without a Ditto, resulting in keeping the starters rare.
This is probably true when you look at the list of pokémon with this ratio. Only starters, fossils, eeveelutions, elemental monkeys, movie mascots (Zoroark and Lucario) and Snorlax are one the list, all supposed to be rare. Combee is there so few will evolve, as there is only one queen in a hive in real life.

(Where are people getting 75%/25% starters from, none of them have ever been like that?)
XD

It was the first percentage that came to my head. I didn't really know the real one.

Well, many Grass-types learn Pin Missile, so that is not much of assistance in terms of secondary typing, however with this middle-Evo, I would be inclined to think it may become Grass/Rock, as the hardy shell that encases looks as if it may turn rocky. Rollout and Mud Shot, indicate the Rock-type too. I think Chespin might be a user of Sandstorm, where Fennekin uses Sunny Day and Froakie Rain Dance too.

for you fans of the secondary triangle out there, they could now do steel>fairy>fighting if they wanted to even up the grass<fire<water. which would support my initial theories of fennekin becoming fairy type :D

I know this is off topic, but still i would like to comment on it.

On one side you want (in the anime) for Ash to get a fully evolved Water type and on the other hand you want it to be like Ash's Snivy.

That's a bit crazy if you ask me because Snivy was stuck with the same 4 moves in the whole Unova saga of 140+ episode and didn't even get any significant wins for the whole saga.

Man, I think you focused too much on syntax, I said I want froakie to be like snivy and co. for their behaviors. Water starters have always had great moves and I'm fine with that. I know snivy is not evolved but Sceptile and Torterra were, Charizard, Infernape, Quilava, Pignite are, I just want a water starter which evolves just once.

I fell into saying this, but I will tell you now, before 10million people explode "its not a perfect triangle". And indeed it isn't. Quite obscurely (I also made this mistake) Fighting does not resist Steel, so it is not a triangle like Water-Grass-Fire.

Plus steel does neutral to fire/fairy as fire resists steel

Why is blue?
I would be okay with Fennekin becoming Fairy though I would prefer it to become psychic. to go with it's witch/wand vibe. I still think Chespin will become a rock or ground type or maybe a steel type. Froakie looks like a fighting type. So I definitely see the second triangle possibly happening. However I'm surprised so many want a perfect triangle now when this hasn't always happened before and rarely does. I would be perfectly fine with no secondary triangle.
