Does Chespin remind anyone else of a Nuzleaf type mon?
What the actual **** are those starters? This gen has the ugliest water starter I have had the misfortune to witness.
The bYrd looks nice though.
Does Chespin remind anyone else of a Nuzleaf type mon?
I lol'd so hard, 500 thousand other people said the same thing 2 and a half years ago.
On the other hand, Grass/Rock could balance and counter Fire/Flying, although I'm not sure what Flying could be super-effective against, which is also strong against rock... Fighting? Wait a second, Grass/Rock, Fire/Flying, Water/Fighting??
Ahh, another possibility. Though I think some of the secondary-types would be switched around. I can't see Fennekin end up a Flying-type.
Yeah, I'd have to agree there.
Anyhoo, just for fun, I've come up with several theories regarding the types that these starters may evolve into.
So, without further ado:
Chespin
1) Grass/Fighting - Not much basis for this one. The greenage on his noggin kinda looks like a headguard though.
2) Grass/Rock - This one sort of makes sense. See, Chespin is partly based on the horse chestnut (known in the UK as conkers). Now, although horse chestnuts are seeds, they are quite hard and rugged, like a rock.
So I could see them doing this.
Fennekin
(BTW we all know the Fire/Psychic theory, so I won't go into that one)
1) Fire/Ground - Fennec foxes live in the desert, so this could be a direction they could go in. However, it does a bit too svelte to be a Ground type, although Flygon isn't exactly bulky and that's a Ground type...
2) Fire/Flying - In Shintoism, foxes are flying messengers used by the god of fertility, Inari. This is also the concept that inspired the StarFox series.
It is also worth mentioning that these particular fox messengers are typically white, which Fennekin seems to echo in it's pale yellow colourscheme.
Froakie
Water/Dark - As I mentioned in my previous post, Froakie seems to be based on a dorobou (Japanese burglar), with the bubbles resembling a sack and the knot of the mask. Furthermore, frogs are very closely linked with ninjas in Japanese culture.

Alright, after looking at them some more I'm more than likely going to go with Chespin. I do like grass types after all. Fennekin and Froakie are both pretty awesome as well.
Now for the good old type speculation. Why is it every time a new gen is released we tend to speculate the second typing as Fighting/Dark/Psychic? Lol, anyways...
Chespin:
Grass/Dark: I say this because of the moves in the trailer, plus to me it kind of looks like he has a hood on. I just keep picturing his final evo as a bipedal with a hoodie on.
Grass/Fighting: Out of all 3 he is still the one that looks the most likely to become part fighting to me.
Grass: I can also see him as a mono grass type. Which would be perfectly fine with me as long as he has a good move pool.
He has the best face. It pretty much just says "Sup guys! I'm awesome!"
Fennekin:
Fire: I can easily see him being a pure fire type with a few psychic moves added in, much like Ninetales.
Fire/Psychic: Mostly because of the trailer. I'm still a bit skeptical thinking this because I personally just don't think GF would give us a starter that ends up being psychic, but stranger things have happened, so you never know.
I also thought about Fire/Ground since it's a fennic fox, but I don't really see this happening. Also Fire/Fighting, not likely after 3 in a row.
Froakie:
Water: For some reason I can see him being just water. Nothing really screams dual type to me about this little dude.
Water/Fighting: I say this only because of the move in the trailer and his arms.
I can see him ending up like Swampert for me. I liked him, but didn't think he was all that great...Until I used him in battle.
I would pick Froakie cause its the second frog starter since bulbasaur... kinda since bulbasaur is a toad but same difference
