The only Ground type moves Torterra learns are Earthquake, Mudslap, Earth Power, and Sand Tomb (and it's considered a Ground type!).

Shuckle also couldn't learn any Bug moves 'til Platinum.

EDIT: And on the subject of Move tutors, all of Fearow's Platinum Move Tutor Moves are Special. Making them useless for it.
