Oh teh noes!1112one
1st Gen: Lets see, crappy shading dreadful choice of colors, what can you do first pokemon games.

2nd Gen: Wowie huuge improvemnt its now becoming way more advances better shading, probably most improved generation, but still something missing.

3rd gen: Exellent shading! Fantastic coloring. Still 4.5, not perfect.

4th gen??? what i think and agree with is overshading in this one, which would put the dynamics in.

Discuss.

Well, if you look at the original Sugimori pictures of the Pokemon from the 1st Generation (1-151), i.e., this picture of Moltres http://www.kraviscomenta.blogger.com.br/moltres.gif, which were featured in, uh....the Nintendo Power Pokemon Yellow Guide a long time ago, anyway, these were the ones made into all of the official pictures, they match up to the shading of the 2nd generation. The 3rd generation changed, removing the "white spot" effect, originally intended as light-reflective spots, and changed to all-color. I prefer the old way. But we'll see.

Nothing to be done
You do realize that I recently made a thread which encompasses all artistic aspects of each generation, right?
