Subquests

What subquests would you like to see that doesn't involve the actual plot, but is still fun to do? Each game has them. Can't remember R/B/Y's. G/S/C had things like the the sick Miltank at Moo Moo Farm, battle Tower and the trainer House.. R/S/E had contests and (Emerald only) battle frontier. FR/LG had Selphy, as did G/S/C with Bill's grandfather.

I'd like to see one similar to Selphy and Bill's Grandfather, where a machine asks you for a pokemon, and in that same day, you need to put the pokemon in the machine. It refuses if it has a hold item. The next day, you get it back, and it is holding a rare item like a Rare Candy, or something only gotten by doing it. Also, the level depends on the item.

Hmm... not sure if this counts as a "subquest" per se, but something similar to the Bug Catching Contest in G/S/C would rawk.

Whatever they have, I hope there's a heap of side-quests in order to increase to longevity of the games...

You mean side-quests like mini events? Hmm, well, if Pokémon were on the lines of doing chores in Animal Crossing, each day would hold some event, including the month and the season. If you did quests, you would get either money or an item? And by completing quests, you would have fame that would rise. If you had higher fame, harder and more challenging quests would be unlocked. Reminds me of FFTA and FFXI.

D/P *might* have side-quests. Though, there is a chance that a MMORPG of Pokémon is in the works for Revolution. That is where the side-quests would really shine.

We should pull off either side-quests or mini-games to gain HMs. The whole "Hi! Your a random trainer! Have an HM!" routine is just silly. Whether it be running errands or Pokemon Blackjack, I'd like to see something different.

you know, it'd be interesting if there were a number of NPCs who you could give a pokemon to for a little while... maybe something like this

an NPC in a town needs is lonely and doesn't have pokemon of his own, you could give him one of your pokemon to borrow. After a while you come to return your pokemon, you then get a reward for doing your favour.

The prize could vary from getting money to getting a rare item, even the pokemon learning a rare attack it couldn't normally learn!

Mew Master

WHY CAN'T I BRAWL!!!
it could be a a 2 player game and a spoof of games like super mario bros. you will get a prize if you win more people will want to play games with you and you will get specail item or they will teach your pokemon a new move.

It'd be neat to see some sidequests that have a lasting function on the game; for example, there could be a quest whereby you must find a certain powerful and revered object in the mountains, but upon you getting it it triggers an avalanche, and with that you then can access newer certain areas while being denied access to older areas. With a certain HM, though, you could get back into the older areas, but they have become frozen over and the people have all huddled inside a few select areas. The League-funded Pokecenters and Pokemarts still are run by the people, though.

Of course, this quest is not pivotal to completing the game but you would probably get a Pokemon with some rare move on it for completing the thing. Say, for example, you need a Dratini to complete this, and this quest would allow the Dratini you already have to learn Extremespeed (so you can have it with egg moves, smile ;D).

Eszett, you really need to stop reading my mind. I was thinking of this, have a side-quest that would alter the outcome if you did it to quickly, or waited to long to do it.

Other side-quests would be, taking care of pokemon, like you take care of the guys Shuckle is G/S/C, but you could take care of new pokemon that have moves that they can't learn normally(not even through egg moves, but if you breed this pokemon with X pokemon with it holding X item, then the baby would know the same move it knows. No the baby can't pass it on.), you would have to give it back eventually though.

Berry Crushing with NPC people, I really liked this feature, I was able to get more vitimans(sp?) and other really cool stuff without having to face the Battle Frontier thousands of times.

Maybe, your rival could challenge you to a race, where you have to complete 3 side-quest's to get X Item from him/her.

In-Response to the rarity of the item, could be how quickly you complete the quest.

The Trick Master! How come no one has said that! He disappears in R/S/E so where did he go? The new region of course!!!

Prizes will be better, along with loads of hard puzzles. After completing the first basic round, it gets harder. And after that, harder again..and so and forth...

YEAH more Trick Master. Bring back the Crystal BT except with tons more pokemon like the R/S/E one, make a new Battle Frontier place, make contests longer, and give rare items. Have NPC fetch quests involving rare items or special pokemon. Have more alternate rare pokemon like the Red Gyarados. That'd add TONS of extra play time to the games

Maybe have a mini-game where you're sent into a field with 5 PokeBalls to find and catch a particular Pokemon within a time limit or until you run of PokeBalls. If you catch the specific Pokemon, you'll win a prize but have to give the Pokemon to the person running the game.

Maybe we can do:

Daycare ppl favors Prize: an egg

i cant think right now so yeah...

I have a few more I made up: (damn, I've gotta stop using colons loads)

Jobs: Similar to the Bike Shop in G/S/C. For instance, the Daycare couple ask you to deliver an egg to a trainer, then they tell you the trainer's route. You visit that trainer, and they say you can keep the egg. When it hatches, it's a baby wth a move that you can't get any other way (E.g: Slack Off Munchlax). This is a rare occasion.

Note: This time, the Daycare couple have your number, so whenever there's an egg, you get a call.

Delivering Mail: Similar to the two friends/lovers in R/S/E. A girl mistakes you for a postman (mailman) and asks you to deliver a letter to her boyfriend. You do so, and the boy asks you to deliver a letter to her. When you do, she realises you're a regular trainer and gives you an item. There is unlimited tries.

I agree with the Trick House, btw.

wynaut ftw!
There could be a little "Joke Shop." It is on the side of some route somewhere. Not necessary to complete.

You can only bring one Pokemon into the Shop, and it must be a single type. The rest of your Pokemon you leave under a bush. (You do this under instructions on the door. It tells you to hide the rest of your Pokemon, but the bush is your own thing.)

Then, once inside, some weird guy in a magician's costume says some weird proverbs or whatever. You are then instructed to step on the colored platform of your Pokemon's type. The platforms are scattered around the room. Once you do, you are sent to a mountain. The mountain is the color of your Pokemon's type. You must make your way through, battling Pokemon that are strong against you. (Example; if you brought in a Bayleef, you would encounter Sevipers and Combuskens on a Green Mountain.) Eventually, you would reach the peak of the mountain. The magician would appear, congratulate you, and give you two of five things (judging by the time you took.)

(Five is the best time, One is the worst.)

1. A type booster (For example, Miracle Seed, or Magnet if you brought in an electric, etc.)
2. A common Pokemon attached with a Rare Candy. (Sent to P.C.)
3. A Rare Pokemon (Sent to P.C.)
4. Leftovers.
5. A Rare Pokemon who knows some new, weird, Psychic or Ghost move (regardless of movepool.) (Sent to P.C.) and 10001 Yen.

1- 3:30 min +
2- 3:00 min to 3:30 min
3- 2:00 min to 2:59 min
4- 1:00 min to 1:59 min
5- 0:30 min to 0:59 min

You get the prize of your time range. If you took 3 plus minutes, you recieve two Type One prizes.

You are then transported back to the Joke Shop, get your Pokemon back, and are free to leave or play again in either:

Another type mountain
Same type mountain, more difficult. (Difficulty can rise up to two times. It rises one level once you beat a certain mountain. Every mountain begins at Difficulty One.)

i would like a couple sub-quests to involve fun minigames besides the 2 in FR/LG and i wouldnt mind if some of them were involved with the plot just to make the game longer

I'd like to see holiday related quests in this game.

For instance, on Halloween, if you go a city or town that's near a graveyard, every route around the city or town would be infested with ghost Pokémon of all kinds. Your job would be to find the source of the trouble and defeat it. you would go into the graveyard and find a tomb stone that ahs been dug up to reveal a passageway. you would venture a dungeon beneath it until you reach an evolved form of some random ghost Pokémon. After defeating it, the ghost Pokémon would rest in peace and you would recieve a Spell Tag or something.

In December, every week you would help a Pokémon like a Delibird or something deliver candy and toys to children around the region. Every week the Delibird would be in a different town or city. The faster you deliver the toys, the better the item the Delibird would give you as a reward.

YEAHHHHHHH
I agreed that the Trick House should be come back. I liked the Trick House because of the puzzles and also you get to battle some trainers and gain some experience points. To make it more intresting, maybe the Trick Master should give you a Pokemon as one of the prizes, like when the professor in the Weather Institute gave you a Castform in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire for defeating Team Agua or Magma. Also, maybe you might meet your rival and go against him or her in one of the Trick House challenges.

Also, I think there should be a side quest where after you have to defeat a gym leader, the gym leader would not give you the badge yet until you do a little side quest, like with the eight gym leader Clair in Pokemon Gold and Silver where you have to get the Dragon Fang in Dragon's Den.
