sorry but i am a complete noob at this
all i know is it takes away 1/4 of user's full HP and makes a decoy with the HP
lets say a 404 HP vaporeon is using Substitute and created a decoy of 101 HP
so this Vaporeon is immune to any status changing moves (i dont know if it would prevent those stat lowering moves, please tell me) as long as the decoy is in place
it can takes up to 101 HP, right? so if a seismic toss hits Vaporeon, the decoy will still stay with 1 HP. what happens next? if a seismic toss hits Vaporeon again, will the decoy take all the damage and disappear or will the attack inflict 99 damage on Vaporeon's HP after the decoy is gone?
what if one uses Substitute twice or more? can the user create more than one decoy to resist more attacks? or will there be only one decoy at most? then i assume the sacrificed HP will be added to the decoy also, which one is right?
thanks for explaining all this to this pathetic noob
if you have any more things to add about the move Substitute, it shall be appreciated

stat-lowering, and status-effect-causing moves have no effect when the opponent has a substitute up. this goes for moves such as leech seed, as well.

the sub takes all the damage from the hit that kills it. so, in your instance, it takes all 100 from the second S-Toss. However, if someone uses bonemerang (or a similar move) and kills the sub with the first hit, the second hit does damage to the pokemon.

you can only have one substitute up at a time. if you use sub when you already have one, it will fail.

If you baton pass a substitute, the HP will stay the same but the defense stats will change to those of the pokemon it was passed to.
