Sugimori art for Movie 8. Very cool looking

Didn't really know where to put this but on the Gamefreak site is some Sugimori art for the movie with Rucario and them. Looks pretty cool. His style s cooler than the anime's artists IMO, espcially how he does Ash and Arlon

I read somewhere the Sugimori does all the initial designs for the main characters in the show and those featured in the movies, so thats probably the story behind those and the rest of the artwork from previous movies that have been on Gamefreak's site.

Incidentally, Filb.de had a Coro-Coro scan up a few months ago that had artwork of the 5 currently released 4th generation pokémon drawn by Sugimori. Yep.

I dislike the way the "eyes" of the characters look. While "game" characters having those eyes goes well enough, having the "anime" versions with those eyes just looks off.

I dislike the way Ash and May look with those eyes in particular. May's eyes being black instead of blue makes her seem like a different character as well.

The only two that really look "off" with that style are Ash and Eileen. May doesn't look too bad.

I think they're just dark blue actually (in the Sugimori version). Definately darker than the one in your sig but you have to remember, they changed them for the anime not the other way around seeing as how her art was around since months before R/S were released

Oh and an interesting note. I used altavista to translate and while most of the text is incomprehensible it did mention Ash as "The incompetent trainer". LOL

Im no expert on Japanese letters but on the link to his pic its his name and i believe the dash indicates that you lengthen the letter before it which is A so it should be Aaron. I know the last kanji is nn since i memorized it from digimon cards XD

I love the way Ken Sugimori draws pokemon, especially the new FR/LG ones. The people are of a different style but i think they still look cool. As looks a little weird like that but hes suppose to look different. Max also looked fine to me. The only one who looked just fine is Brock. Probably since Sugimori has done art of him a few times and ive grown used to it. I love Brocks look in FR/LG. Anyone know where i can find good Sugimori pics of the gym leaders in FR/LG?

Ah yes, I love Sugimori's art style. I'm one of those artists who try to imitate peoples' styles as a challenge to see how good I am and Sugimori's one I've been working on other than the anime style and Soara (Pokesho) style. My mom says he makes his girls and women look a little manly, with his muscular-drawing style. I dont care though, I think it's a cool thing.
And I got most of Sugimori's art saved on my computer.

Heh heh like i said im no expert I want to learn more about the language though. I forgot about the Katakana thing. I have a website that gives all the letters, well a lot of them atleast. Thanks for the link.
