Summer 2012 Anime Season

Arahabaki

Come at me bro.
sword art online and maybe yuruyuri 2. truthfully, SWO looks like something that might be dropped after a few weeks.

Well, it looks like a pretty bog-standard season from here. I can't see myself being compelled to watch much of this (of course, you never can truly tell, so...). I'll probably watch the noitaminA shows, since from what I've seen and know, things there tend towards the pretty damn good (with exceptions, naturally. I'm looking at you, UN-GO, you laughable pile of dung). Some things will be carrying over from Spring (I can't be bothered to check how many) so those will constitute a lot og my viewing. I'll also probably be picking back up Hunter x Hunter since Yorknew going to start and Mamoru Miyano is going to be Chrollo. How could I miss that?

And of course, what I'm most excited about: the second half of Lagrange: The Flower of Rin'ne will be landing. In a season where potential was squandered left and right (not naming anyBodaciousSpacePiratesandAnothernames), it was the show that looked like it had no potential whatsoever and somehow turned out great. Made by the same guy who was also doing Space Pirates at the same time, it initially seemed like it was a slapdash side-project, but as time went on it ended up completely upstaging its sibling (and yet NOBODY ON THIS FORUM BLOODY WATCHED IT. What's up with that?). If Chihayafuru hadn't been around, it would have totally won Winter. I'm looking forward to the glorious return of Madoka, Lan and Muginami with bated breath.

please wake up...
Ono Daisuke has voiced characters in Hentai before, while Nabatame Hitomi has voice characters in eroge.

I didn't mean those two specifically. I'm pretty sure Nakahara Mai is one of the ones who specifically doesn't do porn, and I know there are a handful of others. Point stands that TE is clean, though.

And before the pilot suits are brought up, there is, in fact, a very good justification for making them like that. It's not entirely to make the girls seem stripperific.

That Kokoro Connect seiyuu cast:

Kanemoto Hisako (Ika Musume in Shinryaku! Ika Musume) as Yui Kiriyama
Toyasaki Aki (Yui in K-on!) as Iori Nagase
Sayashiro Miyuki (Kanbaru in Bakemonogatari) as Himeko Inaba
Itou Shizuka (Hinagiku in Hayate no Gotoku) as Maiko Fujishima
Fujiwara Keiji (Maes Hughes in Fullmetal Alchemist) as Ryouzen Gotou

I just passed by that one because it looked like a rip off of K-On!.

Horiguchi Yukiko is responsible for the art in the Kokoro Connect light novel, she also did the character designs for K-ON! (as well as Lucky Star) however that is the only similarity the two share.

I highly doubt that is the only similarity they share.

K-ON is about a light music club made up of four, and later five girls, Kokoro Connect is about a group of 5 people (3 girls, 2 guys) who by making a contract with Kyubey some strange occurrence end up swapping bodies, I really don't see how they will be at all similar.

In tone, genre and style?

Maybe the boys will discover the joys of tea and cake while being in the girls' bodies.

My first reaction to the premise of Kokoro Connect is that I doubt it'll be able to sustain the series without falling back on repetitive jokes and fanservice. I would love to be wrong about that, though.

So what you're saying is that Kokoro Connect has the same thing in common with K-ON! that it does with every other show that has comedy and slide of life in its genres, shows like Yuru Yuri, and Hanasaku Iroha?

I wouldn't rank Hanasaku Iroha with K-ON! and Yuru Yuri. It's a coming of age story, not cute girls doing cute things.
