Not really. She was heavily supported in the Flare arc and against other villains like Team Rocket they just at one point decided she could now curb stomp them all the time with the same experience she had before. Whenever that didn't happen DEMs occurred and they were just treated like an accomplishment on her part. Several other trainers got the same treatment.

They could do that with Mallow and Sophociles just as easily, if not more so because they have more defined abilities (Steenee suffered badass decay against TR second time round though). I mean it would be cheap as hell, but looking at the Oranguru episode, they have no problems still considering plot driven wins 'development' for the trainer, like they have many many MANY times before.

What I mean is that she wasn't helpless, like even when it was just her and Bonnie, she still held her own in battle.

If anything, the Oranguru episode proved that if it was just Mallow alone, she would be screwed. Sophocles too as he needed the help of Ash and Pikachu to even attack TR.

Not really, she was getting her *** kicked by TR like any other case they started upping their game, only when Bonnie stepped in did it become the usual curb stomp. Same for Team Flare. Actually I don't remember Serena ever winning a battle where the opponent could land a single hit without interruption. She was a TOTAL glass cannon.

Mallow held up against TR first time around, though again, TR weren't really putting up a fight (and of course, DEM evolution super boost was in action). Next time they were ready and she needed someone else to practically hold them down for her.

This is always a worrying sign, since plot driven victories generally take over whenever the writers have something they don't have a passion for/don't know how to develop properly (eg. TR battles, Serena's showcases, a good few of May's contests, ANY underdeveloped companion). Pokemon probably does these more often than Looney Tunes, the key difference is that while the latter does them exagerratively for comical purposes (eg. the villain sawing off a branch the hero is sitting on, and THE REST OF THE TREE FALLING) Pokemon's cases are mostly just writers laziness that they still try to play seriously and like the hero is the skilful underdog. Bewear being the obvious exception, though even then is blatantly convenient at times.

Sophociles isn't so bad, since we've seen times he's achieved things through his own wits or improvising against a bit of challenge, ie. character driven victories. Sure he needed help with TR, but he did so using Togedemaru's abilities with Pikachu's electric while the latter was out. Same for how he won the Charjabug race. He can be CLEVER with how he uses his Pokemon to accomplish things, something Serena and Mallow almost never have been, either sadly being in the background or winning blandly because the story said so, thus never really being allowed to develop skills and wits.

EDIT: This comment got an infraction for bringing up a character off topic.

We usually get new titles towards the end/beginning of the month, so it shouldn't be too much longer.

Possibly Lillie could get a Z ring then? Or maybe just 'cause she's the deuteragonist but it's a hope spot that she's there.

Mallow and Sophocles, well, neither of them are primarily battlers (Lana wasn't either, until she got the Z Ring, but did want to get stronger before that happened). They're more support than offense. Sophocles has his technical stuff and seems best at analysis. Togedemaru could learn Electric Terrain that way Pikachu's attacks are always powered up. Mallow could learn how to make natural medicine. Steenee could be really helpful as a distraction against villains with its Sweet Scent. And if Steenee evolves, it could attract them with Sweet Scent and hit hard with Trop Kick when they got near.

Ay, my bro Brock fgot a cookie, hopefully this means his SM appearance won't be a one off thing, maybe he'll come visit Alola like Ash's mom did.

That would make sense. He could learn all about Pokémon and he isn't completely tied down to the Pewter City Gym like Misty is with Cerulean. Brock knows he can leave the Gym in good hands and it'd be nice to see him teach the students all about Gyms and what it's like to challenge a Gym Leader.

maybe it means she's a really popular character in Japan.

Further proof people over there have **** taste.

I hope so.
Hopefully for a episode set around just him and Ash though, and nobody else. I want more interaction between the two. And Croagunk better appear if Misty won't be around, no need to screw over the non-OS Pokemon again.
I'd take him appearing over Misty in Alola any day, his role wasn't stolen by another character. Misty appearing wouldn't be too interesting apart from her seeing a Water/Bug given a Water specialist is around.

Not really, just because they don't hate Lana like you do, does not mean that they have bad taste, it's just means they have different taste, I know this may come to a shock to you but not everybody share the same opinions as you do, and not everyone is going to hate the characters you hate and like the characters you like, just because some one likes a character you hate does not mean that they have bad taste it just means have different tastes, there is nothing wrong with people liking Lana or any of the other characters for that matter.

Don't bother, Zoruagible believes Lana is an objectively terrible character and that anyone who likes her is wrong for doing so.

Anyway, I'm pretty syre those cookies are random, and there just happens to be a lot of Lana. The Braviary is curious, but considering you can see Wobbuffet with Brock and Tapu Lele with Nurse Joy, I don't think it's an indication of Kukui owning a Braviary.

Btw, who or what is that next to Kukui on one of the upper rows of cookies?

Keep in mind though that characters and the pokemon on these cookies are ones that are relevant to the anime, and right now there is no Braviary that is currently relevant to the sun and moon anime right now, so the fact is that Braviary being on one of the cookies means that it's going to have some sort of relevant role with that is being a recurring character or belong to Kukui or one of the other characters however I don't think you should just dismiss as a random coincidence that the Braviary is next to Kukui as he does have one in the games, and while I do know that sometimes the character doesn't have a pokemon they have in the games in the anime, but sometimes they do.

So the Braviary cookie being next to Kukui could potential foreshadow him getting one or already having one, sure it's a possibility that it might not be his but I don't think you should just try to rule it out as a random coincidence as for instance we de a Popplio cookie next to a Lana cookie so it's not like all the cookies are in a random order. As for the character in the upper row next to Kukui that your talking about I could be wrong but I think it might be Professor Burnet.

While the placement is random, I'm pretty sure they are hinting that a Braviary is gonna be playing some sort of role in the anime coming up.

Just a quick question because maybe you can see it better then I can but if you look at the cookie next to the Mallow cookie in the package on the right of the upper layer is that a Shiinotic or is that Lillie because the more I look at it the more it's looking like Shiinotic to me.

It's hard to discern the accuracy of the cookies from the angle the picture was taken, but it would have been so much easier if it was taken from a top-down view, especially for the cookies in the first two upper rows.

A1: Samson Oak/Professor Oak; B1: Professor Kukui/Professor Burnet(?); C1: Mallow/Shiinotic
Row 2 is hard to identify, especially A2 and B2, as they may look like characters we have not yet seen, particularly for B2. C2: Lana (only one I could easily identify)
A3 is also hard to identify. B3: Lana(?)/Steenee/Bounsweet; C3: Lillie (Second Outfit)/Lillie (First Outfit)/Lana
A4: Popplio/Lana; B4: Wobbuffet/Brock; C4: Sophocles/Lana
A5 is pretty much obscured. B5: Braviary/Professor Burnet(?)/Professor Kukui; C5: Meowth/Mareanie
A6: Only one I could easily identify is Jessie. B6: Kiawe/Mallow, of which I could identify. C6: Jessie/Pikachu/James (LOL at Pikachu being with Team Rocket!)
Row 7 is literally impossible to identify. However, one cookie in B7 might look like Olivia, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, out of the easily identifiable cookies, Lana appeared the most: 5. All others have up to two times.

Actually in B2 out the 2 cookies that I can make out there are Tapu Lele and Nurse Joy while in A2 I'm pretty sure I see Togedemaru on top.

I think it's actually Lillie's old design tbh, if you look at the bag with Lillie's new design, there's an older Lillie design which looks similar.
