BW also had like two episodes with Ash back in pallet town after Iris/Cilan left, didn't it? So the goodbye eps may happen early if they want Ash back alone at Pallet Town again before he heads out. I wonder if Misty/Brock could appear one more time in Kanto before Gen 8 starts. The last few times they ignored Misty's existance whenever Ash returned to Pallet after AG/DP/BW/XY...but since Misty actually appeared in this generation it might be a different story.

I'm still hoping the last appearance of the classmates is the semi-last episode. I want a proper final episode this time, with Ash arriving in Pallet and showing his Alola team meeting all the lab Pokemon before heading off for Galar.

Willing to bet Gary and Tracey never appear again, lol. If they couldn't appear during either Kanto nostalgia eps, obviously nothing in the future will give them a reason to appear. Tracey will probably just be mysteriously absent, they're not going to make a new design for him just for him to appear for like 5 minutes in a single episode.

The Misty lure's back? I don't remember Lana ever receiving one on-screen, or did she take Ash's? And what's that pink stuff on it? I know it changes design each time we see it, but...
The preview outright spoils Brionne's evolution, but I guess since they needed good footage of the fishing, they had no choice. At least it seems like it's not an easy fix for the situation. Lana clearly still has to work to stop Kyogre.

The Misty lure is all-new, completely different from any of its previous designs, so Misty likely gave Lana it in her last ep.
We haven't seen the one she gave to Ash since the ep Dawn captured Buizel way back in 2007. Ash has gone fishing a million more times since then and we've never seen it since, so he probably doesn't have it anymore.

I like the fact that Horacio is considered as a rival for Sophocles. I kinda wish they would give each classmates one, to help them boost their growth. They could have made Nina or Ulu Mallow's rival, Cerah for Lillie and I'a for Lana. Viren and the Revengers work great for Kiawe, and I think we will him battle Viren in the league.
Yeah a shame really, Lillie's mentor ironically seemed to be one of the few COTD of the series. A pity because I kinda liked the rival setup this series, with most of them specialising against a specific Pokemon of one of the protagonists. All of Ash's rivals develop a specific Pokemon of his.
There was a good balance between laid back character based stories and competing/rivalry based ones for Sophocles and they all sort of merged nicely together in this week's episode. Granted barely any of it was battling which is likely gonna make his league limelight a bit of an anomaly within what was otherwise a pretty consistent run.
Also another plus point, Vikavolt still has a personality. I was worried he'd get the same demotion as poor Sylveon after evolving, being relegated to his ball unless he was needed, so it's nice to still have some character moments between him and Sophocles. Kinda strange he's more like a big frisky mutt now, though I suppose there's some logic, as Charjabug he was constantly crawling about, just being in the form he was in, it didn't look like much.
Strange how SM has done pretty well making the less conventional Pokemon like Turtonator and Charjabug/Vikavolt rather likeable while some of the usual marketable ones like Snowy and Popplio have struggled to maintain a personality.

Ulu would have been perfect, sibling rivalry is good and hasn't really been a thing outside COTDs. All important characters have siblings too young to be trainers apart from Brock and Misty, and they don't really have any rivalry. Misty is her sister's superior and they acknowledged it, and Forrest wanted to be a gym leader like his brother was.
Kiawe could have used a better rival though, Viren should have been the one-off and Ulu and Cerah should have appeared more

If I could give Mallow a rival, it definitely would have Slurpuff/Vanilluxe/other food related Pokémon.

They should have just expanded upon the Kiawe and Ash rivalry rather than 'Oh we'll see them face off in the League" cause that basically lost it's special meaning seeing how the others are entering too...

But that's assuming that rivals would've had an actual positive impact, which I'm not sure could have happened since this saga likes to just toy with characters by making everything a big joke.

Mallow's rival could be like Miette. She would compete in any "Pokémon Food Contest" or whatever is related to Mallow's goal. She could be a friendly rival or a a**hole who despises Mallow for not being good enough. Cherrim, Shuckle, Miltank and Tropius would be good choices for her team (though I would prefer if Mallow caught the latter instead).
