So fun fact, if Ash does indeed catch Meltan. That'll be the fourth member of his alolan team that was a recurring Pokemon before getting captured. Because the meltan crew showed up in multiple episodes. If only Rowlet showed up in an episode before, then they could have all been recurring. Also when do you think we'll see Hau again? Maybe during a potential Team Skull Arc? It could be cool if Ash, Gladion and Hau all teamed up during that arc.

if Ash catches Meltan he better keep it... I know Nebby is questionable but three times in a row of temporal pokemon is really pushing it.

Leaving it at oak's when the region is over is fine though (although some have theorized he could bring it with him to Galar, since it could be made catchable there) but for that we'd need to wait and see.

Considering that Pikachu picked the Z-Crystal of Steel Type as prize for Ash's final Grand Trial, it would be quite appropiated.

With every pokemon Ash has caught this generation he's gotten a shirt to go along with it.

As there have been episodes with his his Litten before its Evolution to Torracat, Rowlet, Rockruff before its Evolution to Lycanroc. Poipole is the only one that I'm unsure about

Oh really? Interesting. Not sure about the other Meltan but no chance that specific one is getting Oaked

Not only that, but there is also a lot of potential for humor whenever Ash calls Professor Oak, considering Meltan eats anything that's metal. Just imagine all the chaos it could cause around the lab.

Other than marketing purpose, I don’t see There is a reason for Ash to get Meltan, a legendary Pokémon. He’ll either release it or get Oaked. What’s the point?

A temporary Mythical is still something worthwhile. Even if he doesn't keep Meltan I'd still say that's a major point for Sun and Moon.

everyone not named pikachu is getting oaked if they're not released anyways, so would you say that there's no point to any of his non-pikachu mons?

still counts to me, because the writers could've used the time wasted on that to have Ash catch and train something he could actually use.

Nebby should've gone to Lillie like in the games.

To be fair, because of the Z-crystal, Ash was the only one who made sense. I suppose you could argue that Lillie should have had a Z-ring then, but that wasn't the plan, as it turns out.
