What? Well then it would be really poor in my opinion. I really enjoyed the gym battles in the previous seasons. I hope that there are similar battles like Gym battles like the previous seasons in the Trials.

i think he means that once you finish the trial you go to the next island, so they want him to explore melemele island for a while before challenging hala

Those would be the Grand Trials, the battles against the Island Kahunas, and there are definitely going to be at least four of them. The anime also has the flexibility of making the Totem Pokémon battles feel like traditional Gym battles, with the same level of intensity and pressure. The only difference is that Ash's opponent wouldn't be calling out moves, and Ash would be battling multiple Pokémon at the same time.

With that said, I hope the Totem Pokémon battles are NOT like traditional Gym battles. This will be a totally new experience for Ash, and I want that to really come across. The Totem Pokémon battles should feel like a combination of a wild Pokémon battle and a Trainer-raised Pokémon battle, and not just like battling an extremely powerful wild Pokémon.

Also, I'm pretty sure Zoruagible meant that there is no way Ash is going to battle Hala in SM09, as it would be way too early in the series. If he does, then it'll probably be an unofficial match, and Ash is certainly not going to win.

I agree and also I don't think he will be battling the Totem pokemon in episode 9 either, I think episode 9 is just more of an introduction episode to the Island Challenge and that Ash will still have to take on Ilima's trail before he faces the Totem pokemon.

Haven't made a prediction in a while for Ash's team so here's what I think:
Pikachu: No evolution change, but I am hoping for a new move to be added, not including the Z-Moves. Maybe Wild Charge even though it was introduced in a previous generation.
Rowlet: I see Rowlet reaching its final form, possibly by the Third Island mainly because in game we know Kukui gives the starter z move at this Island.
Litten: I can see Litten evoling once or all the way, it would be a nice reference to DP when Ash had Torterra and Infernape.
Grubbin: This is constantly hinted at and funny he still hasn't caught one yet. Definitely will become a Vikavolt eventually, but will mainly be a Charjabug most of the series in my opinion.
Mareanie: Not sure, but I am leaning towards Toxapex for ash to have a pokemon that can take a lot of damage. Originally I was feeling it would go to Araquanid or Golisopod (which are still possibilities), but I am hoping for Toxapex.
Rockruff: I think Ash will catch his own rockruff, unless some chance that Kukui's wants to go with Ash (Unlikely), but I believe his will evolve in the Midday Form due to it being the faster of the two forms.

Reserves: I can see Ash having two reserves that will be balanced between around his team, whereas in BW it felt like there were too many reserves.
Alolan Sandshrew: I love the design and typing for this line and definitely can see it evolving, if not I would still be alright with it.
Mudbray: Either will stay unevolved or will evolve around the third Island. A slow powerhouse in my opinion, plus Ash deserves a new ground type after XY had two (one being a legendary)

One final note is I hope one or two of these pokemon or which ever pokemon Ash's catches that they end up in a pokeball that isn't a pokeball. I can see Ash using a great ball or ultra ball for one and possible an apricorn ball for another (I mean he still has that fast ball from Jhoto lol).

Just a quick note but the only problem I have with this is that idea that Pikachu would learn Wild Charge, if it's going to learn Wild Charge then it should just relearn Volt Tackle instead considering Wild Charge is basically a downgraded Volt Tackle that any pokemon can use while Volt Tackle is Pikachu's line's signature move. Although if Pikachu does learn a new move that's not a Z-move then I think it would probably be something other then Volt Tackle or Wild Charge. I think given how much we saw the Pikachu line use Dig during X&Y it would be interesting if Pikachu learned Dig or Thunder Punch although it probably wouldn't learn those moves.

Dig or Thunder Punch would be interesting, I always hated that Pikachu had lost Volt Tackle and I agree I would rather have that over Wild Charge, but in terms of just something new it would be a nice change of pace. Brick Break could also be an option. Dig or Brick Break would be good options in terms of coverage.

I feel like Ash's pikachu will never know dig due to being able to counter every Pikachu's dig with iron tail. Idk why, but it would just seem like a step back... "oh we got this awesome counter to pokemon who dig!" next gen " oh lets dig dig dig!"

I think it'd be a good idea if Ash's Tauros return to serve as the Riding Pokemon. We'd finally be given a reason for his multiple Tauros(Tauri?)

Pikachu: Not much to say here, I think he'll be able to use Z-Moves again soon which will probably serve as his finisher hopefully Catastropika.
Incineroar: I think Litten will show up again soon, probably a bit after Hala's debut and he'll decide to chose Ash as his trainer. Behind Pikachu he would probably be Ash's main Pokemon.
Dartrix: I hope I'm wrong but for some reason I can't see Rowlet fully evolving especially if Ash gets Litten I think Litten would overshadow it. Plus I think Dartrix's personality could lead to some funny antics.
Lycanroc: I could see Ash getting Kukui's Rockruff, if not then I think he'll catch one of his own at some point on MeleMele Island. I think Midday form suits him well especially with its speedy battle style.
Araquanid: Probably one of the best Gen VII Pokemon design-wise in my opinion. I wanted Ash to get Popplio as his water type Pokemon but I guess Araquanid is the next best thing. Ash tends to catch rather intimidating Pokemon but they usually end up with a friendly personality(Glalie, Gliscor, Noivern). I think Ash would catch Dewpider at some point on Akala Island and it would evolve shortly after.
Passimian: They apparently look for a trainer with good leadership skills; and are impressed if a trainer has good form when throwing their Poke Balls. I could see a Passimian taking a liking to Ash and leaving it's "team" in order to travel with him. It's a standalone Pokemon and could be a pretty strong Pokemon. Also I'm pretty sure most of the primate Pokemon have ended up on the main cast at some point.
Sandygast: Not sure on this one, if Ash were to release one of his Pokemon I could see him catching this one late. It would be his first ghost type and is surprisingly pretty cute.

Pikachu: Iron Tail, Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Electro Ball
Incineroar: Darkest Lariat, Flamethrower, Flare Blitz, Fury Swipes,
Dartrix: Leafage, Brave Bird, Leaf Blade, Energy Ball
Lycanroc: Accelerock, Crunch, Sand Attack, Stone Edge/Rock Climb
Araquanid: Bubblebeam, X-Scissor, Aqua Ring, Lunge
Passimian: Focus Blast, Close Combat, Acrobatics, Double Team
Sandygast: Shadow Ball, Harden, Sandstorm, Earth Power

I really don't think that even if Litten winds up being Ash's ace and fully evolving that it would somehow stop Rowlet from fully evolving as well, because keep in mind back in Sinnoh Ash got both Turtwig and Chimchar and yet despite the amount of focus Chimchar was getting and that it became they ace and wound up fully evolving that didn't stop or prevent Turtwig from evolving fully evolving and if you look at it despite Chimchar through it's evolutions getting a lot of focus, while Torterra was a Turtwig and Grotle it did have it's moments where even though it had trouble with Honchkrow it still did get wins, it was more once it was fully evolved and had to share most of the last few fights with Infernape that Infernape getting so much focus became more of a problem.

Now one thing to note was probably one of the reasons why Chimchar got so much focus was because it had that whole backstory with Paul to where it wanted to prove to and show Paul that he was wrong about it and that it was a strong pokemon, where as in Litten's case while it does have a backstory so far it doesn't have anything to prove meaning that it might not take away as much focus from Rowlet and the other pokemon as Infernape did.

In terms of the shape of Ash's regional team, Unova kinda sorta mirrored Kanto and Kalos kinda sorta mirrored Hoenn, so I'm expecting Alola to kinda sorta mirror Sinnoh. To this end, I expect Ash to get Decidueye and Incineroar to kinda sorta mirror Torterra and Infernape.

As for the rest of his team, I'm not so sure. Nothing really jumps out as an obvious candidate at the moment. Maybe Ash could get Pikipek to keep up his record of catching every regional Flying-type, but he currently has Rowlet who could double as both a starter and a Flying-type, so I'm not so sure. He's shown interest in Grubbin, but it remains to be seen whether he'll go back in for one.

At the moment I'm only seeing speculation based on random guess, or Pokemon people like. No concrete evidence of anything else yet?

* Pikachu: It's a foregone conclusion
* Decidueye and Incineroar: I really want to see these Pokemon reach their final form
* Toxapex: It would be the jerk of the group, but eventually become nicer with Ash
* Sandslash: Most seem to want his Alolan Form to be the Sandshrew line
* Silvally: Would be interesting if they introduce game mechanics and tie it to the narrative. Ash could end up adopting Type: Null in a conflict against the Aether Foundation
* Guzzlord: His final Alola Pokemon, a boss he faces. It'd be an extreme version of Muk in that Ash would catch it to stop its rampage, and while very powerful this is balanced by the difficulty he'd have controlling it

Lillie

* Alola Vulpix: A lot of implications we'll get that Vulpix
* Minior: A prior poster mentioned a good idea of it reflecting her character
* Cosmog: Because Nebby

Kiwae

[IMG139]http://www.serebii.net/sunmoon/pokemon/730.png[/IMG139] [IMG139]http://www.serebii.net/sunmoon/pokemon/752.png[/IMG139] [IMG139]http://www.serebii.net/sunmoon/pokemon/052a.png[/IMG139] [IMG139]http://www.serebii.net/sunmoon/pokemon/781.png[/IMG139]

* Primarina: Would be nice if all the starters evolve
* Araquanid: Her main Pokemon in the games
* Alolan Meowth: Would be pretty interesting and amusing if they have a Meowth on the hero's team
* Dhelmise: It's a living anchor, so it does have that water association

Team Rocket

[IMG139]http://www.serebii.net/sunmoon/pokemon/052.png[/IMG139] [IMG139]http://www.serebii.net/sunmoon/pokemon/202.png[/IMG139] [IMG139]http://www.serebii.net/sunmoon/pokemon/778.png[/IMG139] [IMG139]http://www.serebii.net/sunmoon/pokemon/089a.png[/IMG139] [IMG139]http://www.serebii.net/sunmoon/pokemon/770.png[/IMG139]

* Meowth, Wobbufett and Mimikyu: Well duh
* Alolan Muk: It's one of the original Team Rocket Pokemon in the games, so it'd be nice if they have a throwback with the Grimer line
* Palossand: Another creepy Pokemon for them

Yea I really really really don't see ash getting Guzzlord. Or any ultra beast for that matter.

I'd love him with sivally though, if gladiom isn't introduced

You said Kiwae when you meant Lana

Ultra beasts and Silvally are too op for Ash

Lillie is not going to allowed to catch a legendary

Muk and Palossand are similar in body type to be with team rocket at the same time

In regards to Lillie. I think her having cosmog is entirely possible if they adapt the game plot.

Maybe not catching it, but having it follow around isn't unreasonable

Kanto is love. Kanto is life.
Pretty sure Ash won't catch any older Pokemon except maybe Alola variants( even that is questionable)
Eevee: no
Lucario: I'd like to, but they missed a chance in Sinnoh.

I honestly don't think Ash will catch an Alolan Pokemon. The writers always give him current Gen Pokemon and Alolan Pokemon are just regional variants of Gen 1 Pokemon. Lucario I believe was a real chance in Sinnoh- it suits so well with Ash and Ash also has aura abilities. But it seems unlikely that he will get an Eevee or a Lucario ever.

Yep and also, only way I can see him getting Eevee is in Gen 8; new Eeveelution or something. But, I can see it going to female cast.

It's highly doubtful that Ash will get a Sinnoh pokemon. He didn't obtain a Hoenn pokemon when ORAS was released, even when his team was at 5 up to the 8th badge in XYZ. The idea of him having a Palossand and it having the same affectionate pattern as Muk would be interesting to see.

Alolan form pokemon are current gen pokemon.

Were Alola Forms available in past games? No

Can Alola Forms revert back to the original form? No

Alolan forms are just as much gen 7 pokemon as the others, so no they are not past gen pokemon no matter how you look at it, they may share a name and number with the original forms but Alola forms are different enough to where they aren't past gen pokemon. In many cases the Alolan forms have completely different types and biology then there original forms and are they way there are due to actual evolution in many cases, so no, no matter how you look at this Alolan forms aren't past gen pokemon they are current gen pokemon.

so when the writers are deciding what pokemon Ash will catch out the current gen pokemon Alolan forms are included because they are current gen pokemon.

Alolan forms are regional variants of Gen 1. Does they have a different Pokedex number or entry? No. They are the same Gen 1 Pokemon whose biology and type differs due to different environment. Mega Evolution ae more powerful forms of a Pokemon which are temporary. Alolan forms aren't temporary, but they still aren't Gen 7 Pokemon separately, they are regional variants. I personally think it's very unlikely that Ash will get an Alolan Pokemon.
