Today, it was time for me to challenge the Pokemon League. Am I really ready for this? I wasn't sure, and I guess the only way to find out was by trying...
Entered and the challenge started. I guess it was me against the four Kahunas. Could choose which order to take them in which is great, decided to go with the same order as I originally battled them in.
So I started with Hala. He is a Fighting-type specialist, so I used Toucannon and Primarina against him. It went well, he turned out to be the easiest of the four. His Crabominable was cool, first time I've seen one in the games.
Continued next with Olivia. Since she uses Rock-types, so I went with Mudsdale against her, with a little help from Tsareena. She wasn't very hard either, but it took a little longer to beat her since Mudsdale is slow and got outrun by her Pokemon.
Next up was Nanu. Since he is a Dark-type user, I decided to go with Kommo-o here since it has the advantage... wait, what? Acerola? What is she doing here? Turns out she was next instead of Nanu. Okay. I wasn't prepared for this. She uses Ghost-types which I don't have any clear advantages against. Anyway, I managed to beat her using Salazzle, Kommo-o and Primarina, but it wasn't easy. Her Dhelmise was cool, first time I saw one.
Finally, I had Hapu left. Since she is a Ground-type user, I decided to with Tsareena and Primarina against her... wait, what? I'm not facing Hapu, but someone else? A girl who looked like she could be a Flying-type specialist, which required a different strategy. She turned out to be Kahili, the legendary golfer-girl I had heard about. And she was a Flying-type user, just like I thought. I managed to beat her with Salazzle and Primarina. Again, not the easiest, but it worked after Primarina got a Sp.att boost from her Mandibuzz's Flatter.
With that, it was over. I had defeated the Elite Four of Alola and become the Champion. But I still had one Trial left. A battle against... him! The man, the myth, the legend: Professor Kukui! I battled him and won, but once more, it was not all easy. I had to use almost all members of my team against him, the only one that I didn't use was Tsareena. I like the battle music, it feels like I have heard some parts of it before... but where? I don't remember. His final Pokemon was also one I should have expected it to be, I was wondering if anyone in the game would use one, and that turned out to be the case.
After beating him, I got to enter the Hall of Fame... I think so, at least, will have to check if it is recorded at the computer or somewhere later on. I got to be the first Champion of Alola, which was celebrated greatly. To me, this is the best acknowledgement the series has ever done of you becoming the Champion. Which isn't too strange since you are the first Champion. I watched all the scenes afterwards, got to battle Tapu Koko in the process. I defeated it since I wasn't prepared for catching it, Lillie hinted that it might re-appear again later on, which turns out to be the case now that I read about it. Glad I was leading with Mudsdale which gave me an easy OHKO. I got a special Z-Crystal after beating it. Lillie left for Kanto, will I ever get to see her again? I sure hope so. Finally, I got to watch the Credits, I liked the photos that they showed during them.
Then it was done. I was back in my house at Route 1 again. Now, it's time for the post-game. What is there to do this time around? We're about to find out. Started a little today. Met Hau and got the two Z-Crystals for the other starters from him. Outside, I met an old man I think I had met before somewhere, he reminded me of someone at least. I got a letter from him, telling me to go to a Motel on Route 8. Went down to Professor Kukui's lab, he gave me a Lucky Egg which will be very useful.
Went to the Motel on Route 8 where I met Looker and his boss... Anabel. Wait, what, since when was she in the international police? And a boss, on top of that? I knew she would re-appear in the games, but not in this way. They told me a bit about Ultra Beasts, Anabel also had to battle me to see if I was worthy of helping them. I managed to beat her, but it was really hard. Probably my hardest battle in the game so far. Her Pokemon was at level 61 while my own were at level 58-59, she managed to beat 4/6 of my team and cause heavy damage to the other two. I was deemed worthy either way, even if it didn't feel so since I almost lost. They gave me the mission to go to Aether Paradise, but I'm going to wait with that for a little while, really need to train a bit more first.
Went to Poni Island, thought I should explore the new areas here to get some more training. But as I was about to go there, Dexio and Sina appeared and stopped me. They talked about Mega Evolution. I had to battle them to see if I was worthy of that as well. Come on! Just let me get around to training my team first! I got to battle Dexio this time. He wasn't as hard as Anabel. Z-Moves VS. Mega Evolution, who would win? My Primarina destroyed his Mega Alakazam with an Oceanic Operetta. For winning, I got the Key Stone and an Alakazite. I'm glad they kept the sound effect for obtaining Mega Stones in this generation. Sina and Dexio left, I guess I'll meet them again. Will also obtain more Mega Stones later on.
Went out to the Poni Grove and started training against wild Pokemon there. Decided to use the Lucky Egg now that I have it. Met a wild Riolu, but failed at catching it. The training here was going a bit slow, so I decided to go to the Battle Buffet since I had heard it gets stronger once you have become the Champion. Went there and got a bit of training done, though it didn't go very well, I only managed to beat 5 trainers. Went back to the Poni Grove and trained further, managed to get the team to level 60. Decided to turn the Exp. Share on again to speed things up a bit. Going to continue with the training for a little bit more before going any further.
