Don't try to understand it Aquablast. Just nod your head and pretend to agree with the odd rules of society.

Not really o.o

Well... first day (Sunday) is on one end, last day (Saturday) is on the other end. Therefore, weekend.

Also, Mexico's calendar starts with Monday and ends with Sunday.

Oh the irony

I always consider Sunday to be the weekend, it's just confusing as to why people would even consider it part of the week. Tradition, I guess.

Panda-chan.
I can explain this two ways.

1. The Spanish calendar starts with Monday.

2. It's like bookends; they go on both ends, end refering to both the beginning and the end.

lol.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the difference was down to religion. In fact, I can hypothesise it right now;

-The last day of the week is traditionally the day of rest.
-In Judaism, the Sabbath (religious day of rest) is on a Saturday, which is probably what the Sunday = First day calendars are based off.
-In Christianity (which can be said to have span off from Judaism), the Sabbath is on Sunday, hence the practice of making Monday the first day of the week in Christian territories.

Just saying.

Well don't you think it is a bit weird Sunday is the first day of the week but it is consider the weekend.

Not if you know why it's considered part of the weekend in the first place.

It just don't make sense to me.

Basically, the work week is considered to be Monday thru Friday. The end of the work week is Saturday and on Sunday, traditionally, is considered a day for rest. Countries like the United States have it as the first day of the week mainly because of religion.

If it makes you feel any better, the ISO has Monday as the first day of the week.
