Sunflorazumarill's Hula Girl Pics

Heracross

Custom User Title
That's the thing. When you try new techniques, it probably will look like crap before you get the hang of it, however eventually you'll find that you've improved. If you only do the same thing and never attempt anything differently, then not only will it look bad, but there's no chance of improvements being made. :/

Next up, Lavaridge Gym Leader Flannery! As you can see, Flannery has decied to try doing the hula... in front of an active island volcano! She's also trying her luck with tiki torches! This pic is for all you Flannery lovers and those of you who've wanted to see her in a very cool-looking hula skirt! Keep this thread alive with your comments! There's still a lot more hula pics to go!

We don't want to view art from you if you refuse to improve. We don't mind shitty artwork from people who are honest to god TRYING, but not trying at all is something we don't like.

Look, if you are not accepting critique why are you posting it here? The goal of this forum is to get and receive critique when you post your arts. I am sorry, but if you can't accept critique then you should not be posting art on here. It may be "your style", but no offense, it is a very low quality one that needs to be tweaked.

People are not sticks, they consist of bones, joints, and muscles that you should take note of.

This time, I've done Molly Hale from Pokémon 3 The Movie as an adult! What this most likely happens to be is that Molly is dreaming of herself in a hula skirt doing a hula dance and Entei's there to watch her. I based the scenery off of the "beach area" from Pokémon 3 The Movie. Now I don't want to stress too much, but is it possible that this topic could end up locked due to alleged lack of quality in my pics because unless that is so, I will post my pics here wether you like it or not.

you should at least try to do them a little more anotamically (sp?) correct. If you want, I could help you.... but no matter what, I'll support you through it all
I mean I learned my favorite shipping's official name from you so I gotta repay you.
Its weird though. People here wont accept your art style and keep criticizing you for not knowing proper art skills when the people at the PokeCommunity respect it.... is SPPf really that..... mean?

To everyone who posted here since I last visited. This is how I draw my pics and I don't plan on changing anytime soon. I'm just afraid If I try more anatomy realism, I could screw up.

So? Seriously who cares if you screw up trying realistic anatomy? Boohoo! All artists screwed up when they were learning it. Guess what? Becuase of that, they practiced on it until they got it down pretty good. Do you want to draw exactly like the pictures in this thread when you are 20? 30? 60? Or do you want to improve? Trust me, the road to having great skill in art is a long and hard one. But in the end, it pays off and you will feel better that you can do it. Grow some balls to try new things.

I consider myself good in art, and I feel good about it. But I have a lot of stuff to practice. If you are just not even going to try stuff, I think it's much better if you just stop drawing all together. :\

All right Crystal Clair, you could PM me a few pointers on Pokécommunity and I might consider them. Everyone in Bulbagarden also did nothing but criticize my pics. I guess they have a much higher standard of art here than they do on Pokécommunity, or anatomonically incorrect pics are forbidden here.

All right now! Here's my tenth pic! It happens to be Juliet from "Love at First Flight"! Now here's the scenario; Juliet and Romeo have gotten married and are spending their honeymoon in Hawaii. Juliet has decided to put on a vibrant hula skirt and perform her part of Illumise and Volbeat's Light Dance. You can see Illumise near her. (I may have messed up a little with Illumise's eyes.) Now before I close this pic's presentation, I have a little visual trivia question for you. In this pic above, what can you see on one of Juliet's right fingers that represents what she and Romeo have gone and done?

We're not mean, we're realists. This is a true critique board, we're not just going to praise people who post stuff. You've gotta earn our respect on here by holding a desire to get better.

Welcome to SPPf, just remember that if you do continue to refuse critique at all someone may close the thread.

Stop being an airhead, we are not being mean to her. We are being truthful. Trust me, if she were to post this kind of stuff in a real art forum, oh say, something like conceptart.org, she would be torn to bits. She would cry herself to sleep.

If you truely care about this person, then be HONEST with them. Tell them to improve, tell them what they need to do in order to get better. Holding her back isn't helping.

Actually, what I think about my pics makes me happy. I'm proud of them no matter that people say. I'll still let people criticize these. Can it at least be constructive criticism? Now before I get to showing you my work, I should tell you a little about one of the Pokémon shown in these pics. It's name is Foresteon, and it's a Grass-type Eevee evolution of my own creation. You can find out some more great details about it in a topic some time laster in these forums. Now to unveil my next pics:

kimonosistershulaa0gm.jpg

kimonosistershulac6ys.jpg

Here it is! It's the Kimono Sisters that are dressed as hula dancers this time! These are actually revised versions of pics I've done almost two years ago (and posted here on Pokécommunity well over a year ago). Anyway, the Kimono Sisters are performing a combination of kimono and hula dancing. I also decided to throw in Sakura since it felt unfair to leave her out of the dance. I also added a cousion of the Kimono Sisters, who I'll name Laiyuri, to dance with Sakura. Laiyuri has a Foresteon (explained at the top of this post). Anyway, it was a little difficult adding in the Pokémon to the pics due to lack of room, but I suceeded in doing so.

For the record, the Kimono Sisters (minus Sakura and Laiyuri) dress up as hula girls for a contest in the Orange Islands in a fic of mine called "Orange Island Spring Break". Also, one last thing, you may notice Sasuki has on a wedding ring. That's because in my fics and to me, at sometime after Ash and friends visited the Kimono Sisters the second time, Sasuki married Morty and the two of them live together in her sisters' house. (I call this shipping "EcruteakShipping".) Now to top off this presentation of pics, can anyone guess the patterns of the Kimono Sisters' hula outfits?

Like, Moomoo said; We gave you crit earlier in the thread but you ignored us anyway. Just accept that you need some major practicing. :\

And thus, I'm proud to present for my next female dressed as a hula dancer, Whitney! And as you requested, lots of pink! Whitney's simply on the beach in a pink hula skirt along with her Clefairy and Miltank (which may be a little off). Also, to reflect the Plain Badge, I made the beach scenery... plain. Keep commenting on my pics, wether it's comment or CC!

ll right Crystal Clair, you could PM me a few pointers on Pokécommunity and I might consider them.
Sure I could. In fact I could give you some right here.
btw, are you okay with people calling you a girl?.... and if I recall correctly, aren't you around age twenty? .... well anyway

My first suggestion would be the face shape. Flannery's is the best shape and her face came out almost perfect. However (going on another subject), with her eyes, you could barely see the white. And usually the white brings out the eye. Heck, you could slide by by using whiteout. Just be careful, that stuff isn't too easy to control.

It's a little difficult trying to help you on your own style but I'm getting the hang of it. I even drew a Chigusa picture in a very similar style to yours.
Another suggestion, dont give young girls like Sakura that cleavage crack, because it's a little weird-looking, as they have no chest in the anime.

In the picture with Umbreon, it looks kinda strange floating there in that odd angle. Is it trying to get on the girl's leg? If so, it's better to draw Umbreon actually on the girl's leg so it looks less weird.

Why are the whites of Whitney's eyes blue? .... you can always fix that with whiteout but how did THAT happen? Clefairy's arms look kinda strange with how close to the mouth the base of the arm is. And the red cheeks should be by the eyes a little more. Miltank looks good except for the mouth, which is to squiggly.

The armpits and shoulders of the girls are drawn quite weird. The one that looks the most normal is Melody's arm (the one with the hand holding the ocarina)

I also have some more character suggestions (refrence pictures included
Chigusa
Marina
Ashley
Kogomi
Azami
Shauna
Hinata
Chigusa, Shauna, Hinata, Azami and Kogomi would look the best. And one of the girls you did reminded me of Ashley.
Are you ever gonna draw a boy? XD even if you cant draw them in a hula outfit, it'd still be interesting.

See? This is what I meant by ignoring us. We would tell you how exactly to improve and whatnot and you just flick it off like a bug on your arm. All while just keep posting art and telling us about it, no mention of the previous posts. Basically it's like this:

Person: I think *a paragraph on anatomy and whatnot to help*. I hope you take this good advice.
You: La-lalala! *posts picture* This picture is about when *some minor Pokemon chick* visits Hula island, and island all about Hula!

How about if she doesn't color the white's of the eyes at all? I had a few artists tell me it was hard to use the white out even with a steady hand, so if they can't do it well neither can SunfloraAzumarill.

I may have read that the circle was the perfect shape, but definitely not for a face unless it was in a Chibi style. Face shape for Flannery would be like this. Googling for ref is good too.

It's a little difficult trying to help you on your own style but I'm getting the hang of it. I even drew a Chigusa picture in a very similar style to yours.
You are not helping by doing this. It's basically promoting her to keep drawing like that. You should draw something that shows real anatomy then copying her "style".

It's also good if you draw something different, like what CC said. Seriously, the whole Hula thing is getting pretty stale and it basically a minor Pokemon character just standing there. :\

Well, these and 30 more pics after this are all pics that are already completed. I'm just posting them to burn through them. Also, would you believe that I'm posting these here for fun?

lukahula2mp.jpg

Next up in this series of pics happens to be Luka from the Whirl Islands! As you can see, Luka is trying on a teal hula skirt and sea-green lei as she stands near the water on the beaches of Red Rock Isle (hence the red cliffs in the background). Joining her are one of her Magikarp and the same Mantine she saw in "Mantine Overboard". More replies and we'll get through these faster.

Luka looks nice. Her hair was well done. However her face is a little crooked. And dont worry, faces can be whatever shape you want, as long as people identify them as a face, that's what my manga study guide said.
btw, when drawing an object overlapping something, remember to erase the lines that shouldn't be visible or it will look funny.
btw, I have a good question. What inspired you to draw in this style? And is there a specific goal you want to reach?
If so, I may be able to help you even more.

SURPRISE BUTTSECKS
Well, well, well. What do we have here. If you don't know me yet, Sunflorazumarill, you will soon.
You know, I'm going to completely restate all of the replies here into one neat little drill-bit of a post that may be able to bore its way into the confines of your apparently thick skull.
Long story short: You suck. Not because you're art is just.... bad (for lack of a nicer term), but because you are as stubborn as the day is long. You ever hear of listening? Grand idea; I know. What a revelation. See, I don't understand. People give you advice and help and be friendly. And all you do is ignore them and treat them like dirt. Seeing one crappy art piece is fine in the beginning of a thread. That's perfectly fine. But to continue on with your ignorance and lack of sight, and keep on making these abominations without taking anything we say to heart, well... That's just plain stupid.
The fact that this thread has almost 3 pages worth of posts is revolting, and just makes me sick when I see threads of better artists (like AogiriMatsu, AragornBird, me) get shoved down the drain. There needs to be a seperate forum for stuff like this. Something to seperate the bologna from teh steak, y'know?
-_-

Actually, Sunflorazumarill's pics on this thread so far have been already done from the past. He's got loads of them. But he hasn't made a new one yet as far as I know. So maybe the next one he'll showcase will be better.
However one thing he is great at is filling his pictures with color.
