Super Mario 64 DS or New Super Mario Bros

I'm getting a ds lite in about two weeks, and I'm allowed only one game. I decided to get one of the games above. Which one do you think will be better in gameplay and length terms?

Thanks,

Super Mario 64 DS is longer, but I found New Super Mario Bros. to be better.

First of all, I need to ensure you're getting a DS Lite. Good.

Super Mario 64 DS is the longer game and New Super Mario Bros. is not just short in comparison but generally short. HOWEVER, Super Mario 64 DS is merely a port of the Nintendo 64 original and I'd advise going for the newer thing. After all, if you're getting a Wii, you'd be able to download it anyway.

Me? I've got Super Mario 64 DS and I'll be getting New Super Mario Bros. on it's launch day in England. But I think, if I'd been in your shoes I would have gone for New Mario not Old Mario. If that makes sense... :D

I've played neither game before, so being a port doesn't really matter to me. If, as you guys are saying, NSMB has better gameplay, I'll get thta instead ^^

What 'bout My Star?
I would go with New Super Mario Bros, casue it may be shorter but it is a great platformer, also it's fun being mega mario.

Super Mario 64 DS: It was fantastic playing that game with the inclusion of Luigi, since I thoroughly missed him in the 64 version. Plus it was automatically pretty cool since the original was so addicting.

New Super Mario Bros.: Classic Super Mario Bros. games= awesomeness. 3D graphics= awesomeness. Therefore, classic Super Mario Bros. + 3D graphics= Double Awesomeness. I really enjoyed this game, In fact I was just playing it a little bit ago.

New SMB gets more points for originality (heck, I never thought of redoing old Mario games with good graphics). And, overall, I choose New Super Mario Bros.

Hard choice. I say New Super Mario Brothers, only because I played Super Mario 64 to death on the Nintendo 64 and the Nintendo DS...

I'd go with Super Mario 64 DS. The gameplay is longer and I like the free motion.

Easy, have you ever beat SM64 with all 120 stars? If yes, than get NSMB, if no than get SM 64 DS.

If you want longevity, go for SM64DS. It's good, and seeing Yoshi try to swallow a rabbit is pretty funny, but it's generally a standard port. If you want gameplay, go for NSMB. While it's shorter, I personally think that it's more fun. Sometimes quality beats quantity.

New Super Mario Bros. A totally new side-scrolling Mario takes down a game you can just get for a helluva lot cheaper on the Virtual Console in a few months.

It depends, I like the New Super Mario Bros better but Super Mario 64 has more game play, is 3D and has alot of characters. I like classics though and find NSMB more fun imo.

NSMB is very easy, IMO, so if you want a challenge, get SM64DS. However, NSMB is more fun though. You could go either way.

I have to say I really love the idea of Super Mario Bros DS. I haven't seen much of it but the 3d graphics really impress me. I play Mario 64 reguarly on the N64, so other than things like the inclusion of Yoshi it wouldn't seem to me as worthwhile in getting at the moment until I had more money.

New Super Mario Bros for sure. I like the sidescrollers better, and Super Mario 64 DS's control is TERRIBLE WITH THE D-PAD
