• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Super Smash Bros. Thread (Read the First Post)

I know that Super Smash Bros. threads are banned, but that's been for over 2-3 years. If the mods think that it is still too soon, then they can close this thread and none shall be the wiser.

This thread is for the discussion of anything SSB related. What do you think of the characters? Brawl or Melee? What do you think will be in the next SSB? And so on...

But seeing as that the other threads were closed for specific reasons, I figured that it would help to set some ground rules.

1. All Serebii rules apply.
2. STAY ON TOPIC! If it is not related to anything SSB, then don't post it in this thread. This is what closed the Brawl and SSB4 threads.
3. Be nice towards your fellow members. Criticizing an idea is alright if it is done politely, so don't completely bash someone because you don't like their idea.
4. Do not post character rosters for SSB4. The reason that I put this rule is because, if I remember clearly, everyone made rosters in the SSB4 and pre-release Brawl threads and they would almost always erupt into flame wars when someone forgot a character, added a character that no one liked, etc.

Again, if a mod doesn't approve of this, they can close it, but I don't see a reason not to at least try to have a new SSB thread after 2 years of prohibition.

I'll start off this mo'fo: What was your most recent Smash Bros. experience? For me, I played the original at a friend's house, and I realized that I suck with pretty much all the characters.

Discuss away!

This isn't going to end well but there's a slim chance that it won't if we keep things under control.

Maybe a friend-code sharing place like the Pokemon WiFi section of the forums?

I'd imagine so. The reason that they were banned in the first place is because the threads always erupted into flame-wars, spamfests, and general chaos. I figure that if we control ourselves, then it won't happen here.

Oh, u mad bro?
Haven't touched Brawl in a while. Mostly because my Wii doesn't register the disc anymore.

Gotta make sure that I can still protect my bread. Gonna try to get back into the game for the summer like last year. Gonna start kicking *** at tourneys again.

I remember I used to lurk on the old brawl thread watching Woot21, BVC021 (or whatever it is), and a bunch of others (that's all I remember I don't think anyone else is still around, except for maybe Dattebatyo) speculate which characters would be in brawl and they'd all freak out whenever there was an update. Brings back good times...

The first game is the best. Kirby's my first, Pikachu's my second, and Jigglypuff's my third. Me and my friend's matches are always like this:
Kirby vs. Fox (Firsts),
Pikachu vs. Captain Falcon (Seconds),
Jigglypuff vs. Mario (Thirds),
and sometimes, even:
Samus vs. Ness ("Fourths")

As for Melee, it's pretty fun. I don't own it though (or a Gamecube, for that matter).

I purchased Brawl on release day. It's super-fun, but I haven't picked it up in a while. Kirby's my first, DeDeDe's my second, and I don't have a third. And I'm not even good with the King. D:

That's a mighty big "if", especially if certain members reappear. However, chances of that happening are quite slim these days.

It was, oh it was. I honestly can't remember how it got closed in the first place.

The last thing I remember involving me was the discussion of Metroid related boss fights for another SSB game, which eventually let to Kabutopzilla creating the Unofficial Metroid thread.

Then that died shortly after Metroid Prime Trilogy came out...

The last time I played Brawl... I know it was at some point this year, but I can't remember all too well. I think I start using a different set of characters and actually got pretty good using them. Although, I'm thinking a different crowd might make for better battles. I dunno, I just think that there's someone who likes to use all the characters that I like to use... and is actually somewhat better at using them than me.

Kind of bugs me, actually. Although, I have started to get really good with Toon Link as of late.

HEY. :p

*cough*FURRY*cough*Gargomon251*cough*. That, and I remember spending a few pages quoting Brawl Taunts. Ah, memories...

I haven't played Brawl in a long time, mostly due to it being so hard for my Wii to read dual layered discs (I've even bought the official cleaner). Though since the last thread, I've finally managed to get Smash Bros. for VC. I miss the side Specials...

P.S. Final Smash Face-Off here.

I remember trying to play Brawl online. A whopping total of five times. The lag was absolutely horrible and made it unplayable.

Also got bored of it within two months after having known about every secret before the game was out, no thanks to Sakurai revealing everything on the website.

omg y u maek ssbb thread its gunna b closed even tho admin forgot 2 lock it.

On a more cereal note, I main Kirby, then Dedede's my secondary... and I suck with Meta Knight... thought he'd be one of my more used characters, but guess not.

Anyway, got the game launch date, and finished all the challenges two months later (Last one I needed was obtaining all the stickers.) I'm rusty now from so many hiatuses and not used to input lag, which seems to pop up whenever it feels like it (Immediately on offense, random lag trying to airdodge.)

The lag varies from stage to stage. I've played people who are on the other side of the country (Canada) and it's fine at times (these matches were friend matches). Overall though, the online is pretty awful.

That's why you invite your pals over.

Warning: Jokes!
Haven't played in months. Mostly because, as Chris said, Sakurai ruined the damn game by telling us everything about it before the release.

But it was one hell of a ride while it lasted. The clouds man, those god damn clouds.

Eh, ragazzo!
I have gotten all of the stickers, and I remember how much time that took me. It was quite a bit.

Also, I like to be good with all of the characters, but I have been pretty good with Snake (though not good enough to beat Zero Wolf).

I have beaten Event 41 Solo: The Final Final Battle on Hard with Solid Snake. Explosives are really useful.

Overall, I have been enjoying this game for a while now. I love playing with friends even though I lose more often than not.

Favorite Characters:
Mario
Yoshi
ROB
Kirby
Olimar
Pokemon Trainer
Lucario
Ness
Lucas
Mr. Game&Watch
Snake

They may not necessarily be my most played though.

This. Oh god this.

Yeah it was Gargomon and his sig/fight with about 3 mods that killed the other thread.

Anyways, on topic... I haven't played it since before Christmas. Too busy with games like Golden Sun, DK, and Lego: Star Wars. Really did enjoy it though. Just disliked the fact that the items weren't as frequent on high as they use to be in Melee. Also the cap of only 3 Pokeballs at a time, and the lack of variety in the Pokemon. Assist trophies had the same problem IMHO.

Now I wait for D911's multiquote response.

Never really understood why this was done. I doubt it was for technical reasons, as both Melee and the original were capable of having many, many more Pokemon on the screen at once. Too much chaos onscreen not allowed or something?

Only thing I can think of is so there isn't something like Ressti, a final smash(like Dedede's), and a whole bunch of 'mons out at once. That might cause slow down.
