Well, possibly. Nintendo seems to want to bring in a larger hardcore market. Retaining a physics engine that a lot of other players of "competitive" games have constantly flaked may prove to be a big negative toward the people they want to help usher in.
Then again, these same players have ridiculed Melee's engine as well, so maybe there is no hope for players who think it can't be competitive if there are platforms on the stages.
Or maybe I'm just talking out of my ***.
If there is a story mode next game, I would like it if the story was split in 3 separate ways. A Team Mario, where Mario is the leader and he meets a select number of Smash characters along the way to the bad guy, a Team Sonic, and maybe a Team Link, or a Team Megaman if he's in, and the teams meet up along the way and fight and whatnot until they join forces at the end.
So it's kinda like a cross between Sonic Heroes and FE: Radiant Dawn, but with the gaming legends as the leaders.
